What Is SAMS UG Admission
SAMS (Student Academic Management System) is the online admission platform used by the Government of Odisha for admission into Undergraduate (+3) courses. Through a single Common Application Form (CAF), students can apply to multiple colleges and courses across Odisha.
Revised SAMS +3 Admission Schedule 2026-27
This schedule has been revised by the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha. Students are advised to follow this updated timeline and regularly check the SAMS portal for further notifications. Do not wait until the last day to submit your CAF, since heavy website traffic near the deadline may cause slow loading or submission issues.
How to Apply for Odisha +3 Admission 2026
- Visit the official SAMS Odisha website: samsodisha.gov.in.
- Open the Common Application Form (CAF).
- Register using your mobile number and required details.
- Enter your Class 12 marks and personal information carefully.
- Choose your preferred colleges and subjects.
- Upload required documents, if asked.
- Review all information before final submission.
- Submit the form and keep a copy of the application for future reference.
Students can edit their CAF before the final submission deadline (16 June 2026) if any correction is required.
New Course Structure Under NEP 2020
Admissions this year follow the National Education Policy (NEP) framework. Students may find options such as Single Major with Two Minors, Double Major, or Three Minor Subjects. The final allocation of minor subjects is done by the college after admission, based on availability and counselling.
Understanding Freeze, Float and Slide
When a seat is allotted, students must choose one option:
- Freeze: You are satisfied with the allotted college and subject, and want to confirm admission.
- Float: You take the current seat but want to be considered for higher preference options in the next round.
- Slide: You want a different subject within the same institution, if available.
Students must choose one option; ignoring it may lead to cancellation from the admission process.
Important Notice on AEDP Subjects
Some Higher Education Institutions have reduced the sanctioned strength of AEDP (Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programme) subjects, and in certain colleges, AEDP subjects have been converted into Non-AEDP subjects. Under NEP, AEDP subjects are offered under the Dual Major category (no Minor subjects required); if converted to Non-AEDP, the subject is now offered under Single Major with Dual Minor.
If Your AEDP Subject Has Been Converted
- Select the same subject as Major-I.
- Select two Minor subjects additionally.
- Complete all modifications before the last date of CAF editing/submission.
If You Do Not Edit Your CAF
Students who had earlier selected AEDP subjects that have now been converted into Non-AEDP subjects, and do not edit their CAF, will have their previous Major-II AEDP option automatically treated as a Single Major subject. Minor subjects will be allotted during admission counselling based on merit and seat availability.
Important Instructions
- Read the Common Prospectus carefully before applying.
- Fill in marks exactly as shown in your mark sheet.
- Keep your mobile number active throughout the admission process.
- Save your login credentials safely.
- Check the SAMS portal regularly for updates.
- Choose colleges and subjects carefully before submitting the form.
- Students admitted in Phase-I are not eligible for later phases unless allowed under official rules.
- Review whether your selected subject remains AEDP or has been converted to Non-AEDP, and make necessary corrections before the CAF editing deadline.
