Job Overview
Class XI students in Odisha who did not get a seat in the first two rounds now have another chance. The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education (DHSE), Odisha, has released the schedule for Phase-I Online SPOT Selection Admission for the Academic Year 2026-27.
This SPOT round is meant for students who missed out earlier, whether they were not selected, selected but did not report, or had their admission cancelled. It runs entirely online through the SAMS student login.
Before you lock your choices, read this schedule carefully. A small mistake in timing or document readiness can cost you a seat in this round.
Odisha +2 SPOT Selection Admission 2026-27 Highlights
This is a Choice Locking round, not a fresh application round. Students already registered under SAMS use their existing login to submit or update their Higher Secondary School preferences for this SPOT round.
The entire process, from choice submission to intimation letter download, happens on the SAMS portal. There is no offline or paper-based option for this SPOT admission.
Who Can Apply for Odisha +2 SPOT Selection Admission 2026-27
This SPOT round is open only to specific categories of candidates, not to every Class XI applicant. Six categories of candidates are eligible to exercise the Choice Locking option this time:
- Candidates who had opted for a Slide-up request
- Candidates who missed or forgot to opt for the Slide-up request
- Candidates who were selected but did not report in the 1st Selection
- Candidates not selected in either the 1st or 2nd Selection
- Candidates selected in the 2nd Selection, whether admitted, not admitted, not reported, or under error correction
- Candidates whose admission was cancelled during Phase-I, 1st, or 2nd Selection e-Admission process, up to 29 July 2026
Fresh candidates who did not submit a Common Application Form (CAF) during Phase-I are not eligible to take part in this online SPOT selection admission process. If you never filled the CAF earlier, this SPOT round is not for you.
Candidates already admitted to their first-choice Higher Secondary School during the 1st or 2nd selection round are also not eligible for SPOT admission, since they have already secured their preferred seat.
Choice Locking Process for SPOT Selection
SPOT Selection admission through Choice Locking is conducted purely online. Each candidate must choose a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 10 Higher Secondary Schools while locking their choices.
Applicants get one chance to edit the options they submitted in the SPOT round, using a one-time OTP-based facility. Use this edit option carefully, since it is not available unlimited times.
Desirous students must visit their respective registered student logins under SAMS to exercise their new choice of preference during the stipulated timeline. There is no need to create a new account or CAF for this step.
Important Rule on Zero-Vacancy Schools
If a Higher Secondary School currently shows zero vacancies, candidates cannot select it directly in the normal way. In such cases, the portal displays this message: “No vacancies are currently available in this HSS. You may still opt for this HSS. If a vacancy arises, you may be considered for selection based on merit and availability.”
This means you can still add a zero-vacancy school to your choice list, but your selection there depends entirely on a vacancy opening up later, and on your merit position among other applicants who also chose that school.
Selection Process for Odisha +2 SPOT Selection Admission 2026-27
SPOT Selection will be done purely on a merit basis, according to the number of seats available in each Higher Secondary School. No reservations or weightages will be considered for this particular selection round.
Allotment will be made based on seat availability as on 2 August 2026. Applicants can still choose schools and streams with or without existing vacancies at the time of choice locking, since new vacancies may open up during the online application period.
However, applicants cannot claim a seat for any vacancy that arises after 2 August 2026. So the responsibility of selecting and applying for the right options lies entirely with the applicant.
The SPOT Selection merit list will be prepared centrally, and it will also be made available in the respective Higher Secondary School’s e-Space, alongside the student’s own login.
Documents Required for Odisha +2 SPOT Selection Admission 2026-27
Once a candidate is selected through SPOT selection, the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) will not be generated automatically along with the Intimation Letter. This is an important point many students miss.
- Intimation Letter, downloaded from the student login after SPOT Selection is published
- Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) from the previous Higher Secondary School
- Original mark sheets and certificates used during CAF submission
The candidate must personally provide the HSSLC from their previous Higher Secondary School at the time of SPOT selection admission. Without this certificate, admission updation at the school level may not be completed smoothly.
Important Dates for Odisha +2 SPOT Selection Admission 2026-27
Notice how tight this timeline is. Choice Locking closes on 2 August, and the merit list comes out just four days later, on 6 August. Candidates then get about five days to report and complete admission at the school level.
Also keep in mind that the “Admission Cancel” and “Surrender TC” options will be disabled in the HSS e-Space login from 30 July 2026 to 12 August 2026. Plan your decisions before this window closes, since you cannot cancel or surrender your TC during this period.

Why This SPOT Round Matters for Odisha +2 Students
Many students lose out on their preferred school not because of low marks, but because of a missed Slide-up request or a reporting delay. This SPOT round gives such students a genuine second chance to secure a seat.
Since the selection here is purely merit-based, with no reservation or weightage applied, it gives every eligible candidate a fair and transparent shot at admission, based only on their rank and the seats available.
Missing this round could mean losing the academic year, since it is one of the last structured admission windows before regular classes begin. Treat this SPOT round with the same seriousness as the main selection rounds.
Tips for Odisha +2 SPOT Selection Applicants
List your Higher Secondary School choices in a realistic order. Do not only pick your dream schools; include a mix of high-demand and moderate-demand schools within your 10 choices to improve your real chance of selection.
Keep your HSSLC and other original certificates ready in advance. Since the Intimation Letter will not come with the HSSLC automatically, arrange this document early so it does not delay your reporting.
Set a personal reminder for both 2 August, the choice-locking deadline, and 6 August, the result date. Missing either date can mean losing your place in this SPOT round entirely.
Check your school’s e-Space page as well as your own student login on result day, since the SPOT Selection merit list is published in both places.
