About This Recruitment

Tele-MANAS (Tele Mental Health Assistance and Networking Across States) is India’s national tele-mental health programme, and this recruitment strengthens Tripura’s Tele-MANAS workforce with 10 Counsellors and 3 specialist Clinical Psychologists/Psychiatric Social Workers/Psychiatric Nursing professionals. With mental health service delivery increasingly reliant on trained counselling and clinical psychology staff, this drive is significant for expanding accessible mental health support across the state through the tele-mental health helpline and associated services.

Why Candidates Must Act Within the Narrow Window

Unlike many recruitment notices that allow weeks for application submission, this notice provides only an 8-day window, from 03 September to 10 September 2026, for candidates to submit their application in person at Modern Psychiatric Hospital, Narsingarh. Given that the notice explicitly states no application will be entertained before or after this period, candidates should prepare their complete API-format application, photographs, and self-attested documents immediately rather than waiting until the final days of the window.

Understanding the API-Based Selection Process

Since 90 of the total 100 marks come from the Academic Performance Index based on qualifications, candidates with a Masters degree (for Counsellor posts) or M.Phil/PhD (for Clinical Psychologist/PSW/Psychiatric Nursing posts) hold a meaningful advantage over those relying on the minimum Bachelor’s-plus-experience route. Candidates should ensure all percentage calculations for CGPA/GPA-based marksheets are accurately converted and documented, since the notice specifically warns that failure to produce supporting documentation for percentage conversion can lead to disqualification.

Final Word

Eligible permanent residents of Tripura holding the required qualifications for Counsellor or Clinical Psychologist/Psychiatric Social Worker/Psychiatric Nursing posts should submit their complete API-format application at Modern Psychiatric Hospital, Narsingarh, between 03 and 10 September 2026, and prepare to attend the walk-in interview on 18 September 2026.

The Role of Tele-MANAS in Tripura’s Mental Health Ecosystem

Tele-MANAS provides free, round-the-clock tele-mental health services through a toll-free helpline, connecting callers with trained counsellors and, where needed, specialist clinical support, aiming to bridge the significant treatment gap in mental healthcare access across India, particularly in states like Tripura where in-person psychiatric services remain concentrated in a handful of urban centres. The Counsellors and specialist staff recruited under this notification will directly staff this helpline and associated support services, making their role central to the programme’s day-to-day functioning and reach across the state.

A Note on the Female Sub-Category Reservations

Candidates should carefully review the vacancy table, which breaks down each category (UR, ST, SC) into open and female-specific sub-allocations, particularly for the Counsellor posts where female candidates have dedicated vacancies within the UR and ST categories. Female candidates applying under these sub-categories should ensure their application clearly reflects their applicable category combination, since correctly matching the reservation category can affect how an application is evaluated against the vacancy roster.
