About This Recruitment

Madhya Pradesh Police is recruiting across 7 distinct Subedar/Sub-Inspector cadres spanning general policing, armoury, photography, forensic science laboratory, and finger print specializations, reflecting the range of technical and non-technical roles within the state police force above Constable/Head Constable level. With a uniform Level-9 pay scale (Rs. 36,200-1,14,800) across all cadres, this recruitment offers graduate and diploma-qualified candidates a genuinely competitive entry point into Madhya Pradesh’s state police officer cadre.

Understanding the Technical vs Non-Technical Cadre Choice

Candidates should carefully note that while applying for non-technical posts (Subedar, Sub-Inspector Special Armed Force, Sub-Inspector District Police Force) does not restrict further applications, a candidate may additionally apply for only one of the two technical groups, either Group-1 (Ordnance) or Group-2 (Photo/F.S.L./Finger Print), not both. Since Sub-Inspector (Ordnance) requires a Mechanical Engineering diploma while Photo/F.S.L./Finger Print posts require a Mathematics-Physics-Chemistry graduate degree, candidates should apply strictly for the technical group matching their actual educational qualification.

Preparing for the Written Examination

With the written examination scheduled for 28 October 2026, candidates have just over a month from the application closing date to prepare, making a focused, high-intensity revision strategy more useful at this stage than attempting to start preparation from scratch. Candidates should pay particular attention to the reporting time window (9:50 AM to 10:00 AM for reading important instructions, with the answer-marking window from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM) and ensure they arrive at the examination centre well ahead of time, since MP Police examinations typically enforce strict reporting deadlines with no late entry permitted.

Understanding the Probationary Pay Structure

Selected candidates should be aware that the full Level-9 pay scale is not paid immediately upon joining; instead, as per the Madhya Pradesh Government’s 2019 circular, new appointees receive a stepped stipend structure starting at 70% of the minimum pay in the first year, rising to 80% in the second year, and reaching the full 90% by the third year, in addition to applicable allowances. This graduated pay structure is standard practice for new entrants to Madhya Pradesh’s Class-III executive cadre positions, and candidates should factor this into their initial salary expectations upon selection and joining.

A Reminder on Domicile and Reservation Rules

Candidates who are not permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh should carefully note that they are restricted to applying only against Unreserved/Open category vacancies, with no access to reservation benefits or age relaxation, and a firm maximum age cap of 33 years regardless of category. This is an important distinction from many other state recruitment processes, and out-of-state candidates should confirm their eligibility carefully against this rule before proceeding with the online application.
