About This Recruitment
The District Child Protection Unit, Kaimur is building a panel of 25 Support Persons under the POCSO Act, 2012, to assist child victims of sexual offences through the legal process, in line with directions from the Department of Social Welfare, Bihar. Support Persons play a crucial role in guiding victims and their families through police, medical and court procedures, offering emotional support and practical assistance during an especially difficult time, making this a socially significant, though case-based and honorarium-only, engagement.
Why This Panel Prioritizes Local, Experienced Candidates
Since a Support Person’s role involves close, sensitive engagement with child victims and their families throughout the legal process, this empanelment gives strong weight to candidates who already have three years of hands-on experience in child rights, child protection, legal aid or counselling work, and restricts eligibility to residents of Kaimur district itself. This local-and-experienced-first approach helps ensure that whoever is empanelled already understands both the district’s institutional landscape (courts, CWC, Juvenile Justice Board) and carries the sensitivity required for this kind of work with vulnerable children.
What the Rs. 9,000 Per-Case Honorarium Means
Since Support Persons are paid Rs. 9,000/- per case (inclusive of travel and incidental expenses) rather than a fixed monthly salary, candidates should understand that their actual earnings will depend on the number of POCSO cases assigned to them during the empanelment period, which can vary considerably based on caseload in the district. This structure is typical of legal-aid and child-protection support roles across India, where panel members are engaged on a per-case basis rather than as regular salaried staff.
Understanding the Category-wise Male/Female Split
Within each of the four reservation categories, the notice further splits vacancies by gender – for example, 5 of the 9 UR posts are reserved for male candidates and 4 for female candidates – reflecting the Department’s intent to build a genuinely mixed panel of Support Persons. Since a POCSO victim’s comfort with the assigned Support Person can depend on gender, having a balanced panel available allows the District Child Protection Unit flexibility in matching victims with a Support Person they may feel more comfortable working with during a sensitive legal process.
Preparing a Complete Offline Application
Since this recruitment is entirely offline and does not accept applications through email, online portal or hand delivery, candidates should ensure their application reaches the Assistant Director’s office in Bhabhua well before the 26 September 2026 deadline via Speed Post or Registered Post, factoring in postal transit time. Given that the notice explicitly requires bold labeling of the envelope with “Application for Empanelment of Support Person and Advertisement Number,” candidates should double-check this detail before posting, since incorrectly labeled or late-arriving applications will not be accepted under any circumstances.
