Posts and Pay Scale

Assistant Professor Grade-II is a contract position, not part of the regular faculty cadre. Entry is at Level 10; after one year of post-Ph.D. experience, the person moves to Level 11.

Eligibility

All posts need a Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with first class (or equivalent) in the preceding degree and a very good academic record. Common screening norms: first class in Master’s, at least 55% (high second class) in Bachelor’s, with 5% relaxation for SC/ST/DAP and 3% for OBC. Experience gained while doing the Ph.D. is not counted.

A book by a reputed publisher counts as 1 ‘C’ category paper. A case with teaching note published in Harvard Case Publishing / Richard Ivey / Emerald also counts as 1 ‘C’ category paper.

Age Limit and Fee

Selection Process

• Applications are screened by a Screening Committee, which can set higher shortlisting criteria.
• Shortlisted candidates are called for a Seminar and Interview.
• Selected candidates may be appointed on a regular basis (2-year probation) or on a contract of 2 years (extendable by 1 year), possibly in a different position from the one applied for.
• All communication is by e-mail only. Candidates interviewed by IIM Shillong in the past 1 year may not be considered unless their profile has changed significantly.
