The number of vacancies may increase or decrease depending on the number of vacancies as on the date of preparation of the merit list. The number of candidates to be recommended will be decided by the Hon’ble High Court.
Qualification
The only qualification required for this post is knowledge of Hindi and the regional language.
Age Limit
Candidates in all categories must be between 18 and 35 years of age as on 18 September 2026. For Ex-Servicemen, the upper age limit is relaxed by the number of years equal to their defence service, plus 3 years. Only a Matriculation certificate from a recognized Education Board, or a Birth Certificate issued by the Registrar of Births and Deaths for candidates below Matric qualification, is admissible as proof of date of birth.
Application Fee
Online transaction charges will be levied extra. There is no application fee for dependents of Ex-Servicemen who are disabled or deceased during active operation, provided they upload the required proof at the time of filling the application and produce the original later.
Selection Process
- Selection is based on performance in an Interview of 50 marks – 25 marks for suitability to the job and 25 marks for etiquette/manners.
- Candidates equivalent to 4 times the advertised vacancies, category-wise, in order of interview merit, will be called for a Physical Endurance Test (PET), which is only qualifying in nature.
- The PET consists of three events: 800 metre Race, Long Jump and High Jump, with age-wise qualifying parameters for both male and female candidates.
- Candidates must clear all events of the PET; failing any event disqualifies them from the next event.
- The final list of provisionally selected candidates is prepared strictly on the basis of Interview merit, from among those who qualify the PET.
Physical Endurance Test Parameters (Male Candidates, Age 18-30 Years)
The qualifying parameters become progressively relaxed for higher age brackets, up to 50 years and above, and separate, relaxed standards apply for female candidates. The full age-wise table is given in the detailed notification.

About This Recruitment
The High Court of Punjab and Haryana at Chandigarh is one of the busiest High Courts in India, serving the states of Punjab and Haryana along with the Union Territory of Chandigarh. A Frash is part of the support staff who assist with the general upkeep and orderly functioning of the High Court premises. Since this role forms part of the Court’s regular establishment, the recruitment follows a structured process combining an interview on job suitability and etiquette with a Physical Endurance Test, ensuring that selected candidates are both suitable for the role and physically capable of the associated duties.
Why a Physical Endurance Test Is Part of Selection
Since Frash duties can involve physical activity and extended working hours, including odd hours as needed by the Court, the High Court includes a Physical Endurance Test as a qualifying stage before finalizing the selection. Candidates should note that the PET only decides who remains in contention, while the actual merit and final ranking depend entirely on interview performance, so preparing well for both the physical standards and the interview matters equally for candidates hoping to secure one of these 31 posts.
Preparing for the Interview and Physical Test Together
Since the interview carries marks for both job suitability and general etiquette, candidates should be ready to present themselves clearly and respectfully, and to explain in simple terms why they are a good fit for the role of Frash. At the same time, since only qualifying candidates from the interview stage move on to the Physical Endurance Test, and the test itself demands three different physical events, building general fitness through running, jumping practice ahead of the application deadline can make a real difference. Candidates should check the age-wise standard that applies to them in the detailed notification, since the qualifying distance and height requirements ease progressively for older age brackets.

What a Frash Does at the High Court
A Frash is part of the support staff who help keep the High Court’s premises functioning smoothly on a daily basis, assisting with general upkeep, orderly duties and other routine support work needed to run a large court complex. Since the High Court of Punjab and Haryana handles a heavy volume of case work and public footfall every day, having enough support staff in this role helps the institution run its day-to-day administrative and premises-related needs without disruption.
Documents to Keep Ready
Since candidates only need to submit supporting documents at the time of testimonials checking rather than at the time of applying online, it still helps to gather these papers early. This includes the Matriculation certificate or Birth Certificate as proof of date of birth, caste certificate for SC/ST/BC candidates, discharge book for Ex-Servicemen, and a No Objection Certificate for those currently employed in Government or Semi-Government departments. Having these ready in advance avoids last-minute delays once the High Court calls candidates for document verification.
