Who Can Apply
Indian citizens with a Bachelor of Library and Information Science, basic computer knowledge certificate and 2 years of library experience, aged 21 to 37 years, can apply. Reservation benefits are only for reserved category candidates of Gujarat origin.
Educational Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor of Library and Information Science or equivalent degree from a University recognized by the Government.
- Degree in Law preferred.
- Certificate of basic computer knowledge as prescribed by the State Government.
- Sufficient knowledge of English, Gujarati and Hindi.
- Experience: 2 years of working in any well organized library after getting the degree.
Eligibility is counted as on 20/10/2026.
Age Limit
21 to 37 years as on 20/10/2026. Upper age relaxation:
Even with relaxation, the upper age cannot go beyond 45 years.

Pay Matrix Rs 25,500 – 81,100 plus usual allowances as per rules.
Selection Process
- Main Written Exam (100 marks): Objective MCQs, 2 hours, 1 mark each, 0.33 negative marking. Tentatively on 29/11/2026 (Sunday) at Ahmedabad or other centres. Minimum 50% to qualify (45% for PwBD).
- Syllabus: Library Science; English and Gujarati Language; General Studies (History, Geography, Science, Current Affairs), Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability; Basic Legal Knowledge; Basic Computer Application. The paper is in English except the Gujarati questions.
- Viva-voce (40 marks): Tentatively in December 2026 / January 2027. Minimum 40% needed for the final merit list.
- Select List and Wait-List (up to 10% of vacancies) on aggregate marks, valid for 1 year.
- For District Judiciary, candidates choose 3 districts in order of preference; the High Court decides the fourth. Preferences cannot be changed.
