Who Can Apply

Qualification, age, and experience for all posts follow National Medical Commission (NMC) Guidelines – broadly:

• Professor: A postgraduate qualification (MD/MS/DNB) in the concerned subject, with 3 years as Associate Professor (or equivalent), plus at least 2 research publications after becoming Associate Professor and the required Biomedical Research/Medical Education training.
• Associate Professor: A postgraduate qualification with 4 years as Assistant Professor (5 years if appointed directly as Assistant Professor in a Government medical institution), plus 2 research publications and required training.
• Assistant Professor: A postgraduate qualification with 1 year as Senior Resident in the concerned subject in a recognized medical institution (several alternate routes are also allowed – see the official notification for Tutor/Demonstrator equivalence, non-teaching Consultant routes, and Diploma-holder routes).
• Retired Professors/Faculty from Government Institutes and Defence Personnel may also apply for the Professor post, per NMC Guidelines.
