About This Recruitment
The District Programme Officer, Mathura is filling 544 Anganwadi Sahayika posts across 11 Child Development Projects, making this one of the largest ICDS support-staff recruitment drives in Uttar Pradesh this year. With Mathura City alone accounting for 154 of the 544 posts, and the remaining vacancies spread fairly evenly across the district’s rural blocks, this recruitment offers a significant number of opportunities for local women across Mathura district to take up honorarium-based work supporting Anganwadi Centres in their own communities.
Why Eligibility Is Tied to a Specific Ward or Gram Sabha
Since an Anganwadi Sahayika assists the Anganwadi Karyakatri in day-to-day childcare, cooking and cleanliness duties at a specific centre serving her own neighborhood, this recruitment strictly limits eligibility to women already residing in the same Ward or Gram Sabha as the vacant post. This hyper-local eligibility requirement is a defining feature of ICDS recruitment across Uttar Pradesh, ensuring that whoever is selected is already embedded in and familiar with the community she will be supporting on a daily basis.
Understanding the Priority-Based Merit System
Unlike a purely marks-based selection, this recruitment applies a structured priority order that favors Below Poverty Line candidates and widowed, separated or deserted women first, before moving to progressively less vulnerable categories of applicants within the same Ward/Gram Sabha. Candidates who fall into one of these priority categories should ensure they have the correct supporting certificate – a widow certificate and family register copy from the Gram Panchayat Officer or Municipal Body, or a court order for separated/deserted status – uploaded correctly with their online application, since this documentation directly determines where they fall in the selection priority.
How This Compares to the Anganwadi Karyakatri Post
An Anganwadi Sahayika (Helper) works alongside, but is distinct from, the Anganwadi Karyakatri (Worker) who leads each Anganwadi Centre – the Sahayika typically assists with cooking, serving meals, cleaning and general support duties, while the Karyakatri handles record-keeping, pre-school teaching and coordination with health workers. Since both roles are recruited through the same general framework and share similar eligibility conditions around residency and gender, candidates should check whether a Karyakatri vacancy is also open in their Ward before deciding which post to apply for, based on their own qualifications and preference.
Practical Advice for Applicants
Given that 544 posts are being filled simultaneously across 11 projects, and that income and residence certificates must be freshly issued at the Tehsil level with online verification capability, candidates should start the certificate collection process well ahead of the 13 September 2026 deadline rather than waiting until the final days. Since the notice explicitly warns that incorrect or fudged facts, figures or educational records will lead to outright rejection, candidates should also double-check that all details entered online exactly match their original certificates before final submission.
