About This Recruitment

CSIR-CSIO Chandigarh is a premier CSIR laboratory engaged in multidisciplinary R&D across Agri-Instrumentation, Biomedical Instrumentation, Optical Devices & Systems, Geoscientific Instrumentation, Precision Mechanical Systems, Analytical Techniques and Computational Instrumentation. This recruitment for Security Officer, Receptionist and Driver posts fills essential administrative and support-function vacancies that keep the institute’s campus, staff, and visitor operations running smoothly. Given the Security Officer post specifically requires candidates from an Ex-Servicemen JCO or equivalent Paramilitary background, this recruitment offers a structured second-career pathway for retired defence and paramilitary personnel with security experience, while the Receptionist and Driver posts offer stable central government Group B/C positions with the associated CSIR pay scales, allowances and pension benefits for eligible graduate and 10th-pass candidates respectively.

About CSIR-CSIO Chandigarh

CSIR-Central Scientific Instruments Organisation, established in Chandigarh, is one of the constituent national laboratories of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), the largest chain of publicly funded R&D institutions in India. CSIO specializes in developing scientific instrumentation across a wide range of applications, including agricultural sensors, biomedical devices, optical systems, geoscientific equipment, precision mechanical systems and analytical instrumentation, supporting India’s broader scientific self-reliance goals in measurement science and instrumentation technology. Institutions like CSIO require a full complement of both scientific/technical staff and essential administrative/support personnel, including security officers to safeguard sensitive research infrastructure, receptionists to manage visitor and R&D-related inquiries, and drivers to support the institute’s transport and logistics needs, all of which are covered under this isolated cadre recruitment drive.

Tips for Candidates Applying to This Recruitment

  • Ex-servicemen applying for the Security Officer post should ensure their discharge certificate and rank details clearly establish they meet the JCO (Subedar or higher) or equivalent Paramilitary rank requirement, along with the specific years of security experience applicable to their category.
  • Candidates applying for the Driver post should keep their LMV/HMV driving license and any documentary proof of 3 years’ driving experience ready for upload, since these are core eligibility requirements verified during the application process.
  • Since the fee must be paid only through State Bank Collect and the transaction number correctly entered in the application form, candidates should double-check this step carefully, as incomplete fee details can lead to application rejection.
  • Candidates from CGPA/SGPA grading systems should convert their scores to percentage using their university’s official conversion formula and upload proof of this conversion, as required by the notification for the Receptionist post’s graduate qualification.
