Tips for Candidates Applying to This Recruitment

  • Given the very tight application window closing 16 August 2026 at midnight, eligible candidates should apply through the official NABCONS online links without delay rather than waiting until the final hours.
  • Candidates should ensure their CV clearly documents their exact years of relevant agriculture-sector experience, since this is the primary eligibility filter distinguishing the Project Manager (10-15 years) and Project Consultant (6-10 years) roles.
  • Given that shortlisted candidates may be assessed for MS Office/data management proficiency, candidates should be prepared to demonstrate practical skills in these tools during the interview stage.
  • Since the role requires readiness to be posted anywhere in India and to travel frequently, candidates should factor in this mobility requirement before applying.

About This Recruitment

This recruitment supports the Programme Management Unit (PMU) for the Government of India’s “Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses,” a national initiative aimed at achieving self-sufficiency in pulses production, a critical component of India’s food security and nutrition strategy. Given the scope of work spans policy support, high-level stakeholder coordination with PMO and NITI Aayog, program monitoring, and knowledge management, both the Project Manager and Project Consultant roles offer candidates a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of agricultural policy, program implementation, and central government mission-mode initiatives. Since NABCONS is a wholly owned NABARD subsidiary specializing in agriculture and rural development consultancy, this engagement also offers candidates exposure to institutional-level agricultural development work, though the short and strict application window (just 5 days, closing 16 August 2026) means eligible MBA/PGDM or Agriculture graduates with the relevant years of sector experience should apply without delay.

Understanding the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses

The Mission for Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in Pulses is a central government initiative aimed at boosting domestic pulses production to reduce India’s dependence on pulses imports, a strategic goal given that pulses form a critical protein source in the Indian diet and India has historically been one of the world’s largest pulses importers despite also being the largest producer and consumer. Programme Management Units (PMUs) of this kind are typically established to provide dedicated, professional programme coordination and implementation support to central ministries and their affiliated schemes, bridging the gap between policy design at the central level and on-ground implementation across states and union territories. Given that the scope of work explicitly includes coordination with the PMO and NITI Aayog, the PMU established under this NABCONS-managed contract will likely play a direct role in tracking the Mission’s progress against national self-sufficiency targets and escalating implementation bottlenecks for timely central-level intervention.
