About This Recruitment

The College of Agriculture at Pasighat, under the Central Agricultural University (Imphal), is implementing two externally-funded projects focused on tribal farmer livelihoods and sustainable use of agricultural waste in Arunachal Pradesh. The NMHS-funded project on Integrated Farming Systems and ICT Application aims to improve livelihoods of tribal farmers, while the ICAR-CIRCOT-funded project explores mushroom-based technology to convert indigenous fibre waste into a livelihood and entrepreneurship opportunity. These four contractual positions will directly support the field, laboratory and documentation work needed to carry both projects forward.

Why the Field Assistant Post Favors Local Candidates

Since the Field Assistant is expected to stay at Tuting, a remote area in Upper Siang District, for smooth implementation of field activities, the college has stated a preference for candidates already familiar with the local area, farming communities and field conditions. This approach is common in field-intensive agricultural projects in remote Northeastern districts, where a candidate’s ability to build trust with local farmers and navigate difficult terrain often matters as much as their formal qualifications.

What Candidates Should Prepare Before the Interview

Since this is a walk-in interview rather than an online application process, candidates should focus on having their documents ready and organized rather than waiting for any separate call letter. Original certificates for educational qualifications, age proof, category (if claiming reservation benefit) and any relevant experience certificates should all be carried on the day itself, along with self-attested photocopies, since these will be verified on the spot before the interview proceeds.

Understanding the Difference Between the Three Posts

Project Assistant and Field Assistant are entry-level support roles that mainly require a Bachelor’s degree and willingness to do field-based work, while Young Professional-I is a somewhat more specialized position that expects candidates to have subject knowledge in areas like mushroom cultivation, plant pathology or microbiology, along with a slightly higher minimum mark requirement of 60% in the qualifying degree. Candidates deciding which post to apply for should honestly assess whether their academic background and interest lean more toward general field and documentation work, or toward the more technical, laboratory-oriented work expected under the Young Professional-I role.

Working Under a Centrally Funded Agricultural Project

Since these positions are tied to externally funded projects under NMHS and ICAR-CIRCOT rather than the university’s own regular budget, candidates should understand that their engagement will run only as long as the underlying project remains active and funded. This is common practice for agricultural universities across the Northeast, where national-level bodies fund time-bound projects addressing specific regional needs, such as tribal farmer livelihoods here, and hire dedicated project staff to execute the fieldwork, data collection and reporting these projects require.
