What an Anganwadi Karyakartri Does Day to Day

An Anganwadi Karyakartri handles a wide range of duties at her centre. This includes teaching small children through simple pre-school activities, weighing and measuring children to track their growth, referring sick or malnourished children to health workers, and distributing supplementary nutrition to children, pregnant women and nursing mothers. She also keeps basic records of the children and mothers registered at her centre and works closely with the local Anganwadi Sahayika (Helper) and health workers in the area.

Documents Required

  • Recent passport-size photograph
  • +2 or equivalent qualification certificate and mark sheet
  • Residence certificate
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Widow/orphan/divorce or desertion proof (if claiming those points)
  • Disability certificate (if claiming the disability points)
  • Proof of prior service as an Anganwadi-related worker (if claiming service points)

Important Terms and Conditions

  • Applications will be scrutinised by the concerned Anganwadi Karyakartri Selection Committee at the district level.
  • If any complaint of wrongdoing is received before the final list is published, the concerned application can be rejected by the committee, without prior notice to the applicant.
  • Applications found to be incomplete, incorrect, or without required documents are liable to be rejected.
  • Any change or correction (corrigendum) to this advertisement will be published on the official website.
  • The number of vacant posts and the final list of eligible/not eligible candidates will also be displayed at the office of the CDPO, Tihidi, and other notice boards, as applicable.

About This Recruitment

An Anganwadi Karyakartri (Worker) is the main functionary at an Anganwadi centre under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme. She is responsible for pre-school education, growth monitoring, health check-ups, and distribution of supplementary nutrition to children under 6 years, as well as guidance to pregnant women and nursing mothers in that area. This recruitment fills 3 such posts at specific centres under CDPO Tihidi, giving priority to widowed, orphaned, divorced or deserted women, and to candidates already experienced in similar Anganwadi-related work. Since each post is tied to one particular village or ward, the competition for each vacancy is limited to women already living in that local area, which makes this recruitment more accessible for local candidates compared to a state-wide or district-wide open post.

Who Should Consider Applying

This recruitment suits women who already live within the service area of Chiparpur, Harishpur-2, or Kadeulibina Anganwadi centres and meet the basic age and education criteria. It is especially relevant for widowed, divorced, deserted or orphaned candidates, since they receive the highest priority points in the merit list. Candidates who have earlier worked in any Anganwadi-related role, even informally, should also apply, as their prior service adds directly to their score.

How the Priority Points Work in Practice

The points listed above are added together for each eligible candidate, and the final merit list is prepared in descending order of total points. A candidate who is both a widow and has 5 years of prior ECCE work experience, for example, would score 10 points for being widowed plus 5 points for experience, giving a combined score higher than a candidate with only one of these factors. This is why candidates are advised to claim every category they genuinely qualify for, with proper supporting documents, since even a small number of extra points can change a candidate’s position on the final list.

Tips for a Smooth Online Application

Since the application is submitted only through the official portal and cannot be changed later, candidates should register early rather than waiting until the last date, 10 September 2026. Keeping all documents scanned in the correct format and size before starting the form helps avoid last-minute upload problems. Candidates should also double-check that their name, date of birth, and address match exactly what is written on their supporting certificates, since any mismatch can cause problems during document verification.

About the ICDS Scheme

The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme is one of India’s main programmes for early childhood care and nutrition. It works through a large network of Anganwadi centres set up at the village and ward level. Each centre is normally run by an Anganwadi Karyakartri along with an Anganwadi Sahayika (Helper). Filling vacant Karyakartri posts on time, as CDPO Tihidi is doing here, keeps this local nutrition and pre-school support system running without gaps for children and mothers in that area.
