About This Promotional Recruitment
This recruitment is a common way district courts in Odisha fill Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist posts. Instead of hiring fresh candidates from outside, the court gives its own long-serving Group-D employees a chance to move up to a higher post, provided they meet the education and service conditions. This system rewards employees who have completed at least 5 years of continuous regular service and encourages them to gain the computer and language skills tested in the exam. For an eligible Group-D employee of the Koraput-Jeypore Judgeship, this is a genuine career growth opportunity within the same court system they already work in.
Why the Exam Covers Language, Math and Computers
A Junior Clerk-cum-Copyist handles day-to-day office work in a court, including preparing copies of documents, drafting simple letters, and using computers for record-keeping and typing. That is why the exam tests English writing and translation skills, basic arithmetic used in office work, general awareness, and hands-on computer tasks like formatting documents and using email. The Viva-Voce Test at the end checks whether the candidate is generally alert and suitable to handle these responsibilities in a court office.
Preparing for the Exam
Since the exam covers English, Arithmetic and General Knowledge at the +3 standard, candidates should revise these subjects at that level rather than a lower school level. The English paper especially rewards practice in essay writing, letter writing, and translation between Odia and English, since these together make up 80 of the 100 marks in that paper. For the Computer Science Practical, candidates should get comfortable with everyday office tasks like formatting a document, creating a table, sending and receiving email, and using a pen-drive, since these are the exact skills listed in the syllabus.
