Selection Process

  1. Only ITI-passed candidates from Maharashtra State are eligible. Candidates must register on apprenticeshipindia.gov.in, log in, and under “Apprenticeship Opportunities,” select the MCGM establishment link.
  2. Selection is based on the marks obtained by the candidate in their final-stage ITI examination, as declared in the application, combined with applicable social and parallel reservation norms.

About BMC’s Trade Apprentice Programme

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation runs one of India’s largest urban civic administrations, and its Trade Apprentice programme under the Apprentices Act, 1961, gives ITI-trained candidates from across Maharashtra hands-on, paid, one-year training placements across BMC’s engineering, maintenance, hospital and administrative establishments. With 612 positions spanning trades from Electrician and Plumber to Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (the single largest trade category at 154 posts) and Diesel Mechanic (87 posts), this is one of the largest apprenticeship intakes conducted by an Indian municipal body in a single recruitment cycle. For freshly-qualified ITI candidates from Mumbai and across Maharashtra, this programme offers valuable practical, on-the-job training within a major public-sector organisation, along with a government-notified monthly stipend, even though it does not carry a guarantee of permanent employment after the training period concludes.

Tips for Candidates Attending the Mela

  • Complete your apprenticeshipindia.gov.in registration and select the MCGM establishment well before 20 August 2026, since a valid registration number is a prerequisite for participating in the mela.
  • Report on the correct date for your chosen trade – Day 1 (20 August) covers Electrician, Plumber, Refrigeration & AC Mechanic, Draughtsman Civil, Turner, Desk Top Publishing Operator, Motor Vehicle Body Builder, Diesel Mechanic and Machinist; Day 2 (21 August) covers Wireman, Fitter, Mason, Carpenter, Painter General, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Welder, Computer Operator and Programming Assistant, and Pump Operator Cum Mechanic.
  • Arrive early given the scale of this recruitment drive – with 612 posts across two days, a significant number of ITI-qualified candidates from across Maharashtra are expected to attend.
  • Organise all required self-attested documents in advance, as incomplete applications or missing certificates at the mela can delay or disqualify your candidature on the spot.
