About This Recruitment
Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) is a statutory body responsible for the regulation of water supply and power generation from the Bhakra Nangal and Beas projects, serving Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chandigarh and Delhi. Since BBMB conducts a large volume of official communication in both Hindi and English across these states, it periodically recruits qualified Hindi Translators to support its translation needs. This recruitment adds 9 such translators to its Chandigarh-based establishment, on a temporary basis, through a centralized written test conducted by its own Staff Selection Committee.
What a Hindi Translator at BBMB Does
A Hindi Translator working with a large inter-state body like BBMB is responsible for converting official documents, notices, letters and reports accurately between Hindi and English, ensuring that the meaning and tone of the original text are preserved. Since the role also values proof reading skill and a literary inclination, the work often goes beyond direct translation, into reviewing and refining Hindi and English content used across the organization’s official correspondence.
Preparing for the Written Test
Since the written test covers five distinct areas within just 90 minutes, candidates preparing for this exam should divide their preparation time across English Grammar, Hindi Grammar, General Awareness, Computer Proficiency and Translation practice, rather than focusing only on translation skill. Because there is no negative marking, candidates should attempt every question rather than leaving any blank, while still managing their time carefully across the 100 questions so that easier sections are not rushed at the end. Regular practice translating short official passages both from Hindi to English and English to Hindi can help build the speed and accuracy this role, and this exam, both require.
