Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a government-recognized university. All semester mark sheets and the final passing certificate must be uploaded during application.

Age Limit (as on 1 January 2026)

Domicile Requirement

• Applicants must be Indian citizens and permanent residents of Assam, with a valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) or an Employment Exchange Registration Certificate issued within the state.

Salary

Selected candidates are placed in Pay Band-3, Rs. 22,000 to Rs. 97,000, with a Grade Pay of Rs. 11,800, plus other allowances admissible to Assam State Government employees.

Selection Process

1. Written Examination (Paper-I, 200 marks): A General Ability & Intelligence Test covering General Science, Current Events, Indian Polity and Economy, History, and Geography.
2. Physical Standards & Efficiency Test (PET): Includes a 100-metre sprint (max 16 seconds for men, 18 seconds for women), an 800-metre race, and long jump, along with height and chest measurements as per category.
3. Medical Examination: As per the Assam Home Guards Service Rules, 2020. Minimum distant vision required is 6/6 and 6/9 without correction.
4. Interview & Personality Test (50 marks): The final merit list is based on combined marks from the written exam and the interview.
