UPSSSC Sports Directorate Recruitment 2026 – Overview

Important Dates

After 04-11-2026 no application or fee is accepted. If your payment fails, you must reconcile it by 11-11-2026, otherwise the application will not be finally submitted. Corrections are allowed only within this period.

Post-wise Vacancy (Table-1)

Vacancies and reservation may change as per the latest Government orders. ‘Special Selection’ posts are separate backlog posts (not in unreserved category).

Educational Qualification

• ✓Ground’s Man: High School pass (UP Board or equivalent); practical knowledge of preparing and marking sports grounds/courts; knowledge of grafting plants, roses etc. Preferred: 2 years Groundsman experience, or 2 years Provincial Army service, or NCC ‘B’ certificate.
• ✓Life Guard: High School pass and at least 3 years practical experience as a life guard. Preferred: 2 years Provincial Army service or NCC ‘B’ certificate.
• ✓Sub Sports Officer: Graduate from a recognised university, plus a Diploma in coaching in a relevant sport from NSNIS Patiala, Bangalore, Kolkata, LNIPE Trivandrum/Gwalior or an equivalent institute; plus 2 years coaching experience. Preferred: 1 year experience organising sports competitions, a Diploma/Certificate in Physical Education, 2 years Provincial Army service, or NCC ‘B’ certificate.
• ✓Assistant Coach (all sports): Graduate from a recognised university, plus a Diploma in coaching in the relevant sport from NSNIS Patiala, Bangalore, Kolkata, LNIPE Trivandrum/Gwalior or equivalent; plus 2 years coaching experience. The same preferences apply as above.

Age Limit

Relaxation: SC/ST and other notified categories as per Government rules; government employees get relaxation equal to their service up to a maximum, and UP state employees get 5 years as per the 2013 order.

Application Fee

Freedom fighter dependants, ex-servicemen, women, divyang and outstanding sportspersons pay according to their original category. The exam fee for the Mains is paid separately only by shortlisted candidates before downloading the admit card.

Selection Process

• ✓Mains written exam based on the PET-2025 normalised score: only candidates shortlisted on merit from their PET score can apply and sit in the Mains.
• ✓Written exam: one paper of 100 MCQs, 2 hours, 1 mark each. Negative marking 1/4 for each wrong answer.
• ✓Syllabus: History and national movement (4), Geography (4), Economic and social development (3), Polity and Constitution (3), General Science and Technology (3), Environment and disaster management (3), Current affairs (5), Sports knowledge (40), Computer and IT (15) and UP general knowledge (20).
• ✓The exam date will be announced later.

How to Apply

1. 1Visit upsssc.gov.in and open the advertisement under ‘Live Advertisement’.
2. 2Log in with your PET-2025 registration number and the OTP sent to your registered mobile/e-mail.
3. 3Select the posts you want. Posts you do not select will not be considered.
4. 4Check your details, pay the Rs 25 fee online (Net Banking, card, UPI or SBI e-challan) and download the form.
5. 5Apply only once for the advertised posts. Keep your 11-digit registration number safe.
