This is a state-level recruitment. Vacancies are spread across almost every district of Rajasthan. You can give your preference for five district judgeships while applying.
Post-Wise Vacancy Details
| Post | Non-TSP Area | TSP Area | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stenographer Grade-III (Hindi) – District Courts | 130 | 11 | 141 |
| Stenographer Grade-III (English) – District Courts | 9 | 4 | 13 |
| Stenographer Grade-II (Hindi) – DLSAs (incl. Permanent Lok Adalats) | 7 | 2 | 9 |
| Total | 146 | 17 | 163 |
The Hindi stenographer post has the largest share with 141 seats. So Hindi shorthand candidates have the biggest opportunity here.
TSP means Tribal Sub-Plan areas. These are notified tribal areas in districts like Banswara, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh and Salumber. Only local residents of the same TSP area can apply for TSP posts. The number of posts can increase or decrease during the process.
Who Can Apply
Any 12th pass candidate with shorthand and typing skill can apply. Both men and women are eligible. Citizens of India can apply. Subjects of Nepal and Bhutan with an eligibility certificate can also apply.
Knowledge of Hindi in Devanagari script and Rajasthani dialects is a must. This is a court job in Rajasthan, so local language skill matters.
Reserved category benefits like SC, ST, OBC, MBC and EWS apply only to natives of Rajasthan. Candidates from other states fall under the general category.
Educational Qualification
You need three things:
- 12th pass: Senior Secondary in Arts, Science or Commerce from Rajasthan Board or an equivalent exam, or any higher qualification.
- Hindi knowledge: Good working knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script and of Rajasthani dialects.
- Computer certificate: Any one of these – O Level (DOEACC), COPA/DPCS certificate, Diploma in Computer Science or Computer Application, Polytechnic Diploma in CS Engineering, RSCIT, or 12th with Computer Science as a subject. Any equivalent or higher qualification also works.
RSCIT is the easiest and most common computer certificate in Rajasthan. Most candidates already have it. If you do not, you can count any higher computer degree or diploma too.
Along with these, your real strength must be shorthand. The exam is mainly a shorthand and typing test.
Age Limit
The base age band is 18 to 40 years, counted on 01 January 2027. Reserved categories of Rajasthan get five extra years. Women also get five extra years.
The biggest relief is for widows and divorced women. There is no upper age limit for them at all. Note that age relaxation is admissible in one category only.
Application Fee
You can pay the fee through e-Mitra kiosk, Citizen Service Centre (CSC), net banking, or debit/credit card. The fee window stays open one extra day, till 11 August 2026, 5:00 PM.
The fee is not refundable. So read the eligibility rules carefully before paying. Creamy layer OBC/MBC candidates of Rajasthan and all outside-state candidates pay the general fee of ₹750.
Salary Details
Selected candidates first work as Probationer Trainees for two years. During this period, they get a fixed pay of ₹23,700 per month.
After completing probation successfully, the regular pay scale starts. It is Pay Matrix Level L-10, which runs from ₹33,800 to ₹1,06,700. Allowances are added as per rules.
Court jobs also bring stability, respect, fixed working hours and pension benefits as per rules. As a long-term career, this is a solid choice.
Selection Process
Selection has three stages. There is no general knowledge written exam. Everything tests your real working skill.
| Test | Details | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Shorthand Test (Group A – English) | Dictation 6 min at 80 WPM + transcription on computer in 50 min | 100 |
| Shorthand Test (Group B – Hindi) | Dictation 6 min at 70 WPM + transcription on computer in 50 min | 100 |
| Computer Test (Group C – compulsory) | Speed Test (10 min, 50 marks) + Efficiency Test (10 min, 50 marks) | 100 |
You appear in the group of the post you applied for – Group A for English posts, Group B for Hindi posts. Group C is compulsory for everyone. In the computer test, general candidates need minimum 22.5 marks in each paper. SC, ST and PwBD candidates need 20.
The typing font is Kruti Dev 010 for Hindi and Calibri for English. The minimum computer speed required is 8000 key depressions per hour. The efficiency test covers formatting of text, paragraphs, pages, tables and letters.
Candidates equal to the number of vacancies are called for an interview. The interview has no marks. It only checks that the candidate can read out what they have written. The final merit is made from the shorthand test and computer test marks together.

Preparation Tips
- Practice dictation daily – 70 WPM for Hindi, 80 WPM for English
- Practice transcription on computer, not on paper, since the exam is computer-based
- Master the Kruti Dev 010 font if you are a Hindi candidate
- Build typing speed above 8000 key depressions per hour
- Learn formatting in word processing – paragraphs, tables, page setup and letters
- Give full mock tests with a 6-minute dictation and 50-minute transcription
- Focus on accuracy – spelling mistakes and wrong words cut your marks
The 5% mistake margin rule means accuracy matters as much as speed. Slow but clean typing scores better than fast but careless typing. Practice both together.
