About This Recruitment

Punjab Remote Sensing Centre, based at the Punjab Agricultural University campus in Ludhiana, is a key state institution using satellite and geospatial technology for agricultural and natural resource management applications in Punjab. This recruitment spans a mix of administrative (Clerk), technical (Lab Attendant, Lab Executive) and support staff (Chowkidar cum Mali, Sweeper) roles, reflecting the Centre’s operational needs across its scientific and administrative functions, offering regular Punjab Government pay-scale positions to candidates meeting the specific Punjabi-language and educational eligibility criteria.

Why the Punjabi Language Requirement Is Central to Selection

Candidates should note that every single post in this recruitment – from Clerk to Sweeper – requires passing a Punjabi Language qualifying test with a minimum of 50% marks, in addition to Punjabi up to matric level as an educational prerequisite. This reflects Punjab Government’s standard requirement for state government employment and means candidates without adequate Punjabi language proficiency, regardless of their other qualifications, will not be able to clear the selection process for any of these posts, making Punjabi fluency a genuine gatekeeping criterion rather than a mere formality.

Understanding the Lab Executive Role’s Technical Scope

The Lab Executive (IT & Electronics Network) post stands out as the most technically specialized position in this recruitment, requiring a First Class Diploma or degree in IT, Electronics & Communication, or Computer Science. Given PRSC’s core function involves handling satellite data, GIS systems and remote sensing technology, this role likely involves maintaining the Centre’s IT infrastructure and electronics networks supporting its geospatial data processing operations, making it a distinctive opportunity for IT/Electronics graduates interested in a government technical role within a specialized scientific institution.

Preparing for the Chowkidar cum Mali Physical Test

Candidates applying for the Chowkidar cum Mali post should note the specific physical test requirements – a timed race, long jump and high jump, with separate standards for male and female candidates – and should begin physical conditioning well ahead of the test date if not already in adequate fitness. Since candidates must qualify all events of the physical test to avoid disqualification, and random anti-doping testing may also be conducted, candidates should prepare through natural fitness training rather than any prohibited performance-enhancing methods.

About Punjab Remote Sensing Centre

Punjab Remote Sensing Centre, established at the Punjab Agricultural University campus in Ludhiana, applies satellite imagery and geospatial technology to support agricultural planning, groundwater management, crop monitoring and natural resource assessment across Punjab. As a specialized state science and technology institution, PRSC’s staffing needs span both technical roles supporting its remote sensing and GIS operations and administrative/support roles maintaining its day-to-day institutional functioning, which explains the diverse mix of posts in this single recruitment notice.

Why Regular Posts Differ from Contractual Positions

Unlike many of the temporary, project-linked positions common in research institutions, these PRSC posts are explicitly regular in nature, meaning selected candidates join on a standard government pay scale with a defined 3-year probation period before confirmation, rather than being tied to a specific project’s funding cycle. This makes the PRSC recruitment particularly attractive for candidates seeking long-term, stable government employment in Punjab, as opposed to the numerous temporary JRF, Project Associate and walk-in contractual positions that dominate much of the current recruitment landscape in research and higher education institutions.

Preparing for the Punjabi Language Test

Since every post in this recruitment requires clearing a Punjabi Language qualifying test with at least 50% marks, candidates who studied Punjabi only up to matriculation level and have not used it academically in recent years should consider brushing up on their reading, writing and comprehension skills well ahead of the test date. This requirement applies uniformly across Clerk, Lab Attendant, Lab Executive, Chowkidar cum Mali and Sweeper posts, making it the one universal hurdle every applicant to this recruitment must clear regardless of their specific post or technical qualifications.
