Eligibility
- ✓A respectable and educated citizen of India engaged in public activity or social work, ordinarily residing within the area of the concerned Dowry Prohibition Officer.
- ✓Native of the U.T. of Puducherry.
- ✓Age not more than 60 years as on 31.10.2026.
- ✓Out of the four members, one person with legal experience will be considered.
- ✓The Board has social welfare workers, and at least two of the members must be women as per the Act.
- ✓Not eligible: anyone convicted by a criminal court for an offence involving moral turpitude, an undischarged insolvent, or a person of unsound mind.
About the Board
- ✓The Board meets at least once every three months. Quorum is three.
- ✓It advises the Dowry Prohibition Officer and the Superintendent of Police on effective implementation of the Act.
- ✓The Government can remove a member who acts against the purpose of the Act. A member can resign, but continues until the resignation is accepted.
