About This Recruitment

PMSHRI (Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India) schools are Government of India flagship model schools showcasing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework. PMSHRI Panchayat Government Higher Secondary School, Kholan, periodically engages Guest Faculty to fill subject-specific teaching gaps, such as this History PGT vacancy, for the ongoing academic session. This provides an accessible, quick-turnaround teaching opportunity for postgraduate History candidates – both freshers with the minimum 50% marks and retired lecturers below 65 years of age – who are based in or near Balangir district, Odisha. Since selection carries additional weightage for teaching experience and PGDCA qualification, candidates with these credentials are encouraged to clearly highlight them in their bio-data submission.

Understanding the Guest Faculty Selection Process

Guest Faculty engagements at PMSHRI schools like this one are conducted through a document-based screening process rather than a written examination, since the notice specifies document verification rather than a competitive test. Candidates should therefore focus on presenting a complete, accurate and well-organised bio-data with clear supporting certificates from HSC through Post Graduation, since the school will primarily be evaluating candidates on the strength of their academic record, B.Ed. qualification, and any additional weightage criteria such as prior teaching experience or a PGDCA certificate. Because the vacancy is for a single post, candidates who can clearly demonstrate strong academic performance in PG History alongside relevant classroom experience are likely to have an advantage in the selection process.

Retired lecturers applying under the “below 65 years” provision should ensure their retirement order and last-drawn service certificate are included among their supporting documents, since this category is explicitly recognised alongside fresh postgraduate candidates in the eligibility criteria. Fresh candidates, meanwhile, should double-check that their PG History mark sheet reflects at least the minimum 50% aggregate required, as this is a strict eligibility threshold rather than a preferred qualification.

About PMSHRI Schools and Guest Faculty Engagements

PMSHRI (Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India) is a Government of India scheme under which selected schools are developed as exemplar institutions implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, with upgraded infrastructure and a stronger emphasis on holistic, competency-based education. Odisha’s Directorate of Higher Secondary Education periodically authorises individual PMSHRI-designated higher secondary schools, such as this Panchayat Government Higher Secondary School at Kholan, to engage subject-specific Guest Faculty on a session-wise basis wherever a sanctioned teaching post remains vacant or a subject specialist is otherwise unavailable through regular postings. This mechanism allows PMSHRI schools to maintain continuity of subject instruction for students preparing for their Higher Secondary (+2) examinations, even while longer-term regular recruitment processes for permanent lecturer posts proceed separately at the state level.

For postgraduate History candidates based in or near Balangir district who meet the minimum eligibility criteria, this Guest Faculty engagement offers a relatively quick, document-verification-based route to a teaching assignment at a PMSHRI-designated higher secondary school for the current academic session. Candidates are encouraged to prepare their application well ahead of the 19 August 2026 deadline, given the tight turnaround before the subsequent document verification date.

Why History as a Higher Secondary Subject Matters

History remains one of the core elective subjects offered under the Arts stream at the Higher Secondary (+2) level in Odisha’s Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) curriculum, alongside subjects like Political Science, Economics, Odia and English. A vacant PGT-History post can directly affect a school’s ability to run a full complement of Arts-stream classes, which is why institutions like PMSHRI Panchayat Government Higher Secondary School, Kholan, move quickly to fill such gaps through Guest Faculty engagement rather than leaving students without a subject specialist for an extended period. Because Guest Faculty appointments of this kind are directly tied to a live teaching requirement, the school’s timeline from advertisement to document verification is intentionally short – just under two weeks in this case – so candidates interested in the post should prepare and submit their application promptly rather than waiting closer to the deadline.

Documents Checklist for Applicants

  • Self-attested photocopies of +2 (12th standard) mark sheet/certificate

  • PGDCA certificate, if held, for additional weightage
  • Teaching experience certificates, if any, for additional weightage
  • Two recent self-attested passport-size photographs
