Office of the Collector & District Magistrate, Nuapada (ST & SC Development Section), Odisha, has invited applications to hire Guest Teachers for Govt. SSD Higher Secondary School, Dharambandha, 3 posts. Eligible candidates may apply by 23 September 2026.
Nuapada Guest Teacher Recruitment 2026 – Overview
Eligibility Criteria
Preference: Retired Teachers not exceeding 65 years of age, who are physically fit, will be preferred. In case of non-availability of Retired Teachers, other eligible candidates not exceeding 62 years of age may be considered.
Minimum Qualification (for Class XI & XII): Post Graduation (Master’s Degree) in the subject concerned, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate, and passing in B.Ed. If B.Ed. candidates are not available, non-B.Ed. candidates can be considered.
How to Apply
- Fill the Bio-Data form as per Annexure-I of the notification.
- Attach a set of self-attested copies of Academic Qualification Certificates with Mark Sheets.
- Send the application by Speed Post/Registered Post only to the District Welfare Officer, Nuapada, superscribing the envelope “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF GUEST TEACHER”.
- Ensure the application reaches on or before 23 September 2026. Applications received after the due date will not be entertained.
- Appear for verification of original documents/certificates at the office of the DWO on 25 September 2026. Only those who applied within the stipulated date will be allowed to participate.
Honorarium
A Guest Teacher will be paid Rs. 400 per class/period at the Higher Secondary (XI & XII) level, not exceeding Rs. 16,000 per month. A guest teacher may take a maximum of 40 classes/periods of minimum 45 minutes each, per month.
Selection Process (Weightage-based)
Where two or more candidates score equal total marks, preference is given to the elder candidate. A merit-based empanelled list will be prepared, and empanelled candidates will receive an Offer Letter from the DWO after approval by the District Magistrate.
Terms and Conditions
- Services of Guest Teachers may be hired only against a sanctioned vacant post, till joining of a regular teacher or for a particular academic year, whichever is earlier.
- Guest teachers have no claim or right for regular or contractual appointment, nor will they be part of the SSD Department’s teacher cadre.
- Hiring automatically ends once a regular/contractual teacher is appointed against the vacant post.
- Performance is reviewed monthly by the concerned Headmaster/Principal; unsatisfactory performance leads to immediate disallowance.
- Continuous unauthorized absence of 7 days automatically ends the guest teacher’s engagement.
- Guest teachers will not be entrusted with hostel or official administrative work, and are not allowed to stay in school premises after working hours.
Why This Recruitment Prioritizes Retired Teachers First
Since the notice explicitly invites applications from Retired Teachers (up to 65 years) in the first instance, and only considers other eligible candidates (up to 62 years) in case of non-availability of retired teachers, this reflects a district administration preference for experienced, already-trained educators to fill sanctioned vacancies quickly, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing classroom instruction at Dharambandha.
Understanding the Per-Class Honorarium Structure
Since compensation is calculated at Rs. 400 per class up to a maximum of Rs. 16,000 per month, guest teachers should understand that their earnings directly depend on the number of classes actually assigned, capped at 40 classes per month, meaning consistent full-load engagement is necessary to reach the maximum monthly honorarium.
About the ST & SC Development Section’s Role in Teacher Engagement
Since Govt. SSD Higher Secondary School, Dharambandha, falls under the ST & SC Development Department’s administrative oversight, this recruitment reflects the department’s responsibility for ensuring continuous, quality secondary education in schools it administers for Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste student populations in Nuapada district.
Why Retired Teachers Are an Especially Strong Fit for This Role
Since the school urgently needs to ensure uninterrupted teaching activities against sanctioned vacancies, retired PGT teachers bring immediate classroom readiness without requiring induction, and their existing subject mastery and prior exam-board familiarity with Mathematics, Odia, or English curricula make them a low-risk, high-continuity choice for the district administration compared to hiring a first-time teacher.
What the Weightage System Means in Practice
Since academic performance carries up to 70 marks and B.Ed. training performance up to 30 marks, a candidate with a strong postgraduate percentage but no B.Ed. will still be considered, per the notice’s own provision for non-B.Ed. candidates where B.Ed. holders are unavailable, though such candidates should expect to be ranked below equally academically strong B.Ed.-qualified applicants once the full weightage calculation is applied.
Final Word
Eligible retired or other qualified PGT candidates in Mathematics, Odia, or English should send their Bio-Data application with supporting documents by Speed Post/Registered Post to the District Welfare Officer, Nuapada, by 23 September 2026.
