National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala, an Institute of National Importance, has invited applications for Professor of Practice positions in 13 academic departments (Ref. F.NITA.36(61-DFW)/Professor of Practice/2026/4661A). The posts are for superannuated scientists, engineers, professionals and managers/executives with at least 20 years’ experience in industry, government, PSUs or R&D. The honorarium is Rs 1,20,000 per month (consolidated), and there is no application fee. Applications must reach the Institute by 26 October 2026, 5:00 PM.

Eminent retired professionals whose industry or government careers can bring real-world practice into NIT Agartala’s curriculum.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s and post-graduate degrees in the related discipline from a recognised University/Institute.
• Ph.D. is desirable, not mandatory.
• Skilled professionals with strong domain knowledge in their field.
• Minimum 20 years’ experience in reputed industries; Central/State Govt/PSU organisations; R&D organisations; professional councils and statutory bodies; or overseas research and industrial organisations.

Age Limit

No minimum age is given. The engagement can continue up to the age of 70 years at most.

Selection Process

• Each department decides its own shortlisting criteria, which may be higher than the advertised minimum.
• Shortlisted candidates are called for a presentation and interaction/interview before the Selection Committee.
• TA/DA is given to shortlisted candidates. Accommodation is provided subject to availability.
