Prescribed minimum qualification and experience for each post follow the Recruitment Rules notified by MHRD/GOI vide No. F.35-5/2018/TS.III, dated 04/04/2019. For most posts, the qualification is a First Class Bachelor’s Degree/First Class Diploma. Complete post-wise qualification and experience details are provided in Annexure-A of the official notification.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the NIT Agartala official website (nita.ac.in) and go to the Recruitment tab.
  2. The online application link will be active from 20 September 2026, 10:00 AM, to 20 October 2026, 5:00 PM.
  3. Complete the application separately for each post applied for, along with the applicable fee.
  4. Candidates applying for more than one post should note that examination schedules for different post codes may coincide; no relief will be provided in such cases.

Selection Process

Per DoPT guidelines (O.M. dated 29 December 2015), no interview will be conducted for any Group ‘B’ or Group ‘C’ post. Selection for all advertised posts will be through a Computer Based Test (CBT). The final merit list will be prepared solely on CBT marks, subject to qualifying any prescribed skill test(s). Tie-breaking follows a sequence: higher Part-A marks, then earlier Date of Birth, then Institute discretion.

Terms and Conditions

  • Regular NIT Agartala staff appointed before the implementation of RRs in NITs (including Model RRs 2012) may participate in the selection process irrespective of age and qualifying marks.
  • Reserved category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) candidates applying against Unreserved vacancies are not entitled to any relaxation in age, qualifying marks, or other concessions.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for attending the recruitment test/document verification.
  • Selected candidates will be under probation for one year.
  • Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification; all disputes fall under the jurisdiction of Tripura High Court only.

Why Technician and Senior Technician Posts Lead the Vacancy Count

With 14 vacancies for Technician and 9 for Senior Technician, together accounting for nearly half of all 51 posts, these two categories represent the largest opportunity within this recruitment, reflecting NIT Agartala’s substantial requirement for laboratory and workshop-support technical staff across its engineering departments.

Understanding the CGPA-to-Percentage Conversion Rule

Since many candidates’ degree certificates report only CGPA rather than percentage or class, candidates should note that where their University/Institute does not define a conversion formula or issue a percentage conversion certificate, NIT Agartala will simply multiply the Aggregate Grade Point by 10 to arrive at the equivalent percentage, a detail worth confirming in advance if your CGPA is borderline against the 60%/6.5 CGPA threshold.

Why Applying for Multiple Posts Requires Careful Scheduling

Since candidates applying for more than one post code must submit and pay for each post separately, and the Institute explicitly states that examination schedules for different post codes may coincide with no relief provided, candidates interested in multiple posts should prioritize the post code that best matches their strongest qualification rather than applying broadly across several posts and risking a scheduling conflict.

About NIT Agartala

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala, Tripura, is one of India’s 31 NITs, an Institution of National Importance offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral engineering and technology programmes. This large Non-Teaching recruitment strengthens its technical, library, administrative, and laboratory support infrastructure across departments.

Why Departmental and Ad-Hoc Staff Get Special Age Relief

Given that NIT Agartala explicitly grants up to 56 years age relaxation for its own ad-hoc/temporary/contractual/outsource staff already serving at the Institute, existing NIT Agartala employees in relevant roles have a meaningful pathway to regularization through this recruitment cycle, provided they submit documentary proof of their association with the Institute, a provision worth highlighting for any current contractual staff considering whether to apply.

Why Careful Post Selection Matters When Applying to Multiple Codes

Since separate fees and applications are required for each post code, and NIT Agartala explicitly disclaims responsibility for coinciding exam schedules, candidates genuinely eligible for more than one post, such as a Diploma holder eligible for both Technical Assistant and a Junior Engineer stream, should carefully weigh which single post offers the stronger fit before committing fees to multiple applications, rather than spreading resources thin across several post codes.

Final Word

Eligible candidates meeting the post-wise qualification, age, and CGPA/percentage criteria should prepare their documents in advance and apply online through nita.ac.in between 20 September 2026 and 20 October 2026, paying the requisite fee separately for each post applied for.
