About This Recruitment
This recruitment is conducted under the ST & SC Development (SSD) Department, Mayurbhanj district, to fill teaching gaps at the Higher Secondary (Class XI-XII) level in schools run under this department. Since these schools often serve tribal and other disadvantaged communities in Mayurbhanj, ensuring subject teachers are available for core science and language subjects like English, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology is essential for students preparing for their board exams and future studies. The Guest Teacher system allows the district to quickly plug vacant sanctioned posts without waiting for a lengthy regular recruitment process.
Why Retired Teachers Get First Preference
This notice specifically states that retired teachers, up to 65 years of age and physically fit, are preferred as Guest Teachers before considering other eligible candidates, who face a lower age cap of 62 years. This reflects the practical advantage of hiring someone who has already spent years teaching the subject at the appropriate level, since they can step into a classroom with minimal orientation and immediately deliver quality instruction, which matters given that Guest Teacher engagements are often short-term and tied closely to a single academic year or until a regular teacher is appointed.
Understanding the Weightage-Based Merit System
Since this recruitment is decided through a marks-based merit calculation rather than a written exam, candidates should understand exactly how the 100-mark total breaks down. Academic performance, based on Post Graduation percentage, carries up to 70 marks, training (B.Ed.) percentage carries up to 30 marks under the eligibility criteria table, while the actual selection formula combines 50% career weightage, 30% teaching experience, and 20% interview. Candidates with higher PG marks and completed B.Ed. training therefore start with a real advantage before the interview stage even begins, so accurately reporting exact percentages on the application form matters for a fair assessment.
