About This Recruitment

IIT Hyderabad is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and like other residential campuses of its scale, it runs its own hospital to provide medical care to students, staff and their families. This recruitment fills contractual positions for a Duty Medical Officer and Staff Nurses, ensuring the campus hospital has adequate medical coverage, including for emergencies that can arise at any hour on a large residential campus.

Why Freshers Can Apply for Duty Medical Officer

While most contract medical posts prefer experienced candidates, this notice specifically states that although 1 year of post-qualification experience is preferred for the Duty Medical Officer post, freshers with an MBBS and completed internship can also apply. This reflects the urgent nature of the requirement and gives newly qualified doctors, who have completed their internship and medical council registration but have not yet gained work experience, a genuine opportunity to start their career at a reputed institution like IIT Hyderabad.

Preparing a Complete Online Application

Since IIT Hyderabad’s application portal requires candidates to upload a recent passport-size colour photograph and signature in specific file sizes, along with education and employment details in separate sections, candidates should gather all documents in advance. Work experience certificates must clearly state the designation, period of service, nature of work, and pay, and must be on the organization’s letterhead with a date, name, and signature of the issuing authority, since pay slips, office orders, or appointment letters alone will not be accepted as proof of experience. Taking care with this documentation upfront can prevent avoidable rejection at the certificate verification stage later in the process.

Why This Recruitment Suits Both Fresh and Experienced Candidates

This notice deliberately spans two different experience levels within the same recruitment cycle. The Duty Medical Officer post is open to freshers, giving a newly qualified MBBS graduate their first professional posting at a national institute, while the Staff Nurse post requires a substantial 3 years of prior hospital experience, reflecting the more independent, hands-on responsibility a nurse typically carries in a smaller campus hospital setting without the same level of on-site senior medical backup available at a larger multi-specialty hospital.
