About This Recruitment
HPCL Visakh Refinery is one of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited’s major refineries, located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. A Block Turnaround is a planned, large-scale shutdown of process units for maintenance, inspection and equipment restoration, and it needs experienced hands to run smoothly within a tight schedule. Rather than hiring fresh staff for this short, specialised assignment, HPCL is re-engaging its own and other PSU oil companies’ retired employees, who already know refinery turnaround work, on a 3-month contract basis for the November-December 2026 shutdown.
What a Turnaround Consultant Does
A Turnaround Consultant supports the planning, coordination and field execution of maintenance work during a refinery shutdown. Depending on the discipline, this can mean planning and monitoring maintenance of static equipment like heat exchangers and vessels, supporting process unit shutdown and start-up as an Operations consultant, handling instrumentation calibration and testing, managing electrical switchgear and testing, overseeing rotary equipment like pumps and compressors, or coordinating civil repair works needed during the shutdown. In every discipline, the consultant works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection, Safety teams and contractors to keep the turnaround on schedule.
Why This Opportunity Suits Retired Refinery Professionals
For a retired HPCL or PSU oil company employee who has spent years working in refinery maintenance or operations, this is a chance to put that specific turnaround experience to use again, for a defined 3-month period, without committing to a long-term job. Since the pay is linked to the last drawn salary after adjusting for annuity income, and conveyance and mobile expenses are reimbursed separately, the compensation structure is designed specifically for someone already receiving retirement benefits rather than someone starting a fresh career.
Documents to Keep Ready Before Applying
Before starting the application, retired employees should collect all the required papers together so the single-PDF submission is not delayed. This means the Service Certificate showing the last drawn Basic Salary, a clear scanned copy of the Aadhaar card, a Work Experience Certificate that clearly lists the job roles held, the Self Declaration in the Annexure III format about penalties during service, and the Annuity Certificate from SBFS or NPS. Scanning all these documents in good quality and merging them into one PDF along with the filled application form, in the order asked in the notice, makes the submission process smoother and avoids last-minute technical issues before the 12 September 2026 deadline.
