About This Recruitment

This Adjunct Faculty engagement at Gurugram University’s Department of Media Studies reflects a wider national policy push toward bringing industry practitioners into higher education classrooms, particularly in fast-evolving fields like 2D/3D animation, design software and mainstream media production, where hands-on industry experience often complements or exceeds conventional academic credentials. Since the University explicitly allows candidates with strong domain expertise from industry to be considered even without the standard UGC-prescribed qualification, this opens the opportunity to experienced media professionals, animators, designers and editors who may not hold a formal doctoral degree but bring substantial practical, industry-relevant skills to the classroom. Given the attractive per-day remuneration structure and the flexibility of semester-based engagement, this recruitment offers a valuable part-time academic opportunity for working and retired media professionals in the Gurugram/NCR region.

About Gurugram University

Gurugram University is a State University established under the Haryana Act-17 of 2017, located in Sector-51, Gurugram, Haryana. As a relatively young state university situated in the National Capital Region, Gurugram University has been actively building industry linkages across its academic departments, reflecting Gurugram’s status as a major corporate and media hub in India. The University’s Media Studies department, which is the subject of this particular Adjunct Faculty hiring drive, benefits significantly from proximity to numerous media houses, production studios, advertising agencies and digital content companies headquartered in and around Gurugram, making the Adjunct Faculty model a natural fit for bridging classroom learning with real-world industry practice.

Understanding the Adjunct Faculty Scheme

The Adjunct Faculty scheme, promoted broadly by UGC across Indian higher education institutions, allows universities to engage accomplished professionals from industry, government and academia on a part-time, semester-linked basis, without the long-term commitment of a regular faculty appointment. This arrangement benefits both parties: the University gains access to current, real-world expertise and industry connections that enrich the curriculum and expose students to practical applications of their coursework, while the Adjunct Faculty member gains a structured academic platform to share their expertise, mentor students, and often contribute to research or applied projects at the M.Phil/Ph.D. level. For a specialization area like 2D/3D Animation and Design Software Skills, where the technology and industry practices evolve rapidly, having practitioners with adequate industry experience teach alongside regular faculty helps keep the curriculum current and employment-relevant for graduating students.
