About the Sanitary Inspector Role

A Sanitary Inspector, Class-3, under Gujarat’s Health and Family Welfare Department plays a critical role in public health administration – monitoring sanitation standards, food safety compliance, water quality, waste management and disease-prevention measures within their assigned jurisdiction. This cadre forms an important link between the state’s public health policy and its on-ground implementation, particularly in the context of the Medical Education and Research directorate’s broader mandate. For candidates holding a Health Sanitary Inspector’s Diploma or certificate, this recruitment offers a stable Class-3 Gujarat Government career path, beginning with a fixed 5-year pay period followed by regularization into the 7th Pay Commission Level-4 scale, subject to satisfactory service and the resolution of pending Supreme Court matters referenced in the notification.
