• Specialist: A PG Degree or Diploma in your specialty from a recognized university, plus 3 years’ experience after the PG degree, or 5 years’ experience after the diploma.
• Senior Resident: A PG Degree or Diploma in the concerned specialty. Non-PG candidates can also be considered if they have 2 years of experience in the same discipline.
• Senior Resident (against GDMO): Either a PG Degree/Diploma, or simply an MBBS with at least 2 years’ working experience in the same discipline you’re applying for.

What the Job Pays

All three categories are paid “no work, no pay” – meaning you’re compensated based on days actually worked.

If you’re selected as a Specialist, one more thing to plan for: you’ll need a professional indemnity insurance policy before you start – Rs 20 lakhs cover for surgical specialties like General Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics and ENT, or Rs 10 lakhs for Physicians, Dentists, Radiologists, Pathologists and Chest specialists.
