Who Can Apply

This recruitment is open only for candidates who are registered on the NAPS portal from West Bengal or Jharkhand. NAPS stands for National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme, and registration on this portal is compulsory before applying.

You can apply for only one trade and only in one state. If you apply for both West Bengal and Jharkhand, or for more than one trade, your application will be rejected. So choose your trade and state carefully before sending your form.

Educational Qualification

The qualification rule for this apprenticeship is simple and specific to ITI pass candidates.

  • You must hold an ITI certificate in the trade you are applying for, that is Fitter, Electrician or Welder.
  • You must have secured at least 40% marks in your ITI qualifying examination.
  • You must already be registered on the NAPS portal under the same trade you are applying for.

For the Welder trade, candidates who have passed Class 8 instead of Matriculation can also be considered. This makes the Welder trade slightly more accessible for candidates with a lower general education background, as long as their ITI certificate is valid.

Age Limit

The official notification does not mention any specific age limit for this apprenticeship. Since eligibility mainly depends on your ITI qualification and NAPS registration, candidates meeting these requirements can apply regardless of a fixed age cap mentioned in the notice.

Application Fee

There is no application fee mentioned anywhere in this notification. Candidates can send their application by post without paying any fee, which makes this opportunity cost-free for all eligible ITI candidates.

Salary (Stipend)

As an apprentice, you will receive a fixed monthly stipend rather than a regular salary.

Trade
Monthly Stipend
Fitter
Rs. 10,560
Electrician
Rs. 10,560
Welder
Rs. 9,600

This stipend is paid for the entire one-year training duration. There is no mention of any additional allowance apart from this fixed monthly stipend, so plan your expenses accordingly during the training period.

Selection Process

The selection process for this apprenticeship is based purely on merit, without any written exam or interview.

  1. Merit List Preparation: A merit list is prepared using the marks you scored in your ITI qualifying examination.
  2. Tie-Breaker Rules: If two candidates score equal marks, the one who passed ITI earlier gets priority. If the passing year is also the same, the older candidate by date of birth is preferred. If even the date of birth matches, the candidate who registered earlier on the NAPS portal gets seniority.
  3. Document Verification: Candidates are shortlisted based on merit and called for document verification.
  4. Engagement Letter: After successful verification, you receive a training engagement letter mentioning your place of posting and reporting date.

Since there is no written test, your ITI marks decide everything. This makes it important to have scored well during your ITI course itself.

Documents Required

Keep self-attested copies of the following documents ready along with your filled application form.

  • Matriculation passing certificate (8th pass certificate accepted for Welder trade)
  • ITI passing certificate
  • Final year ITI mark sheet
  • NAPS portal registration copy
  • Aadhaar card copy
  • Bank details copy (Aadhaar linked), same as uploaded on the NAPS portal
  • Caste certificate, for SC/ST/OBC candidates (OBC certificate must be valid within the last one year)
  • One recent passport size photograph
  • Affidavit for undertaking, in the format attached with the notification

Keep your original certificates ready too, since they will be needed at the document verification stage. Make sure your OBC certificate, if applicable, is not older than one year from its issue date.

Why You Should Apply

ECL is a well-known coal company under Coal India Limited, and an apprenticeship here gives you real hands-on industrial training. This experience adds strong practical value to your resume as an ITI pass candidate.

With no application fee and a straightforward merit-based selection, this is an accessible opportunity for ITI candidates from West Bengal and Jharkhand. It is a good stepping stone before you look for permanent industrial jobs later.

Preparation Tips

  • Since selection is based on your ITI marks, there is no exam to prepare for now, so focus on getting your documents ready.
  • Double check that your NAPS portal registration matches the trade you are applying for.
  • Keep your bank account details updated and linked with Aadhaar, since this is verified through the NAPS portal.
  • Arrange your caste certificate early if you belong to SC, ST or OBC category, and check the OBC validity date carefully.
  • Fill your application form neatly and avoid any mismatched information between your form and documents.
  • Send your application well before the last date to avoid any postal delay.

Since this process depends entirely on your existing ITI marks, careful documentation matters more than last-minute preparation. Keep everything organised and submit early for a smooth process.
