About This Recruitment

Dharanidhar Medical College & Hospital, Kendujhar is strengthening its Pediatric care capacity by recruiting Medical Officers specifically for its MNCU (Maternal and Newborn Care Unit) & Nursery Unit, a critical care area for newborn health. Funded through the District Mineral Fund, Kendujhar, this recruitment reflects the district’s use of mineral royalty funds to address specialist healthcare staffing gaps, particularly important given the specialized nature of newborn and neonatal care.

Why Candidates Must Act Immediately

Since the walk-in interview is scheduled for just 09 September 2026, with registration closing at 11 AM, MD/DNB or Diploma-qualified Pediatric candidates (or MBBS graduates, if specialists are unavailable) must gather their original certificates and photocopies without delay. Given the highly attractive Rs. 80,000/- monthly remuneration for a contractual position, and the merit-based weightage system favoring strong academic performance from HSC through MBBS, candidates should ensure their complete academic record is readily available for the career-marks-based merit list calculation.

Understanding the Preference Order for Selection

Candidates should note the clear preference hierarchy established in this notice – MD/DNB Pediatrics holders are given first preference, followed by Diploma in Pediatric holders, with MBBS graduates considered only if neither specialist category is available in sufficient numbers to fill the 3 vacancies. This structure means MBBS-only candidates, while technically eligible, face a meaningfully lower probability of selection compared to Pediatric specialists, and should apply with realistic expectations about their relative standing in the merit list.

About Dharanidhar Medical College & Hospital, Kendujhar

Dharanidhar Medical College & Hospital serves as the primary teaching hospital and referral centre for Kendujhar district, Odisha, providing critical secondary and tertiary healthcare services including specialized maternal and newborn care through its MNCU (Maternal and Newborn Care Unit) and Nursery facilities. As is common across many district-level medical colleges in Odisha, DDMCH periodically relies on District Mineral Fund-supported contractual recruitment to bridge specialist staffing gaps that cannot always be immediately filled through regular government recruitment channels, given the typically longer timelines associated with permanent government medical appointments.

Why Newborn Care Staffing Is a Priority Area

Maternal and Newborn Care Units require specialized medical expertise to manage high-risk deliveries and critically ill newborns, making adequate Pediatric staffing in these units a direct determinant of neonatal survival outcomes at any hospital. By prioritizing MD/DNB Pediatrics and Diploma-qualified candidates for this recruitment, DDMCH Kendujhar is aiming to ensure its MNCU and Nursery Unit is staffed with appropriately specialized medical officers capable of managing the complex clinical needs of newborns requiring intensive or specialized care.

What Candidates Should Bring on Interview Day

Beyond the required original certificates and self-attested photocopies, candidates should carry a valid photo identification, their MBBS/PG degree certificates, internship completion certificate, Medical Council registration proof, and any prior experience certificates from Government health sector postings, since priority is explicitly given to candidates with such experience. Given the same-day results publication at 5 PM, candidates should also be prepared to remain in Kendujhar through the evening or make suitable local arrangements accordingly, rather than assuming results will only be available at some later date after the interview.

How This Compares to Regular Government Recruitment

Unlike the lengthier, multi-stage process typically associated with regular Odisha Health & Family Welfare Department recruitment, this DMF-funded walk-in interview offers a same-day selection and result process, making it an efficient route into a well-paying contractual government medical position for Pediatric specialists and general MBBS graduates alike. Candidates should recognize that while the position is contractual and limited to one year initially, strong performance and continued availability of DMF funding could realistically open pathways to renewal or further opportunities within the district’s broader healthcare system going forward.

A Reminder on the No-Fabrication of Documents

Given the notice’s explicit reliance on career marks from HSC through MBBS for merit computation, candidates should ensure all mark sheets and certificates submitted are accurate and verifiable, since any discrepancy discovered during document verification on the interview day itself could lead to immediate disqualification. Candidates who have completed additional qualifications beyond MBBS, such as a Diploma or MD/DNB in Pediatrics, should make sure these are clearly presented, as they materially affect both eligibility preference and the overall standing achieved in this walk-in selection process.

Final Preparation Checklist

Before heading to the interview venue, candidates should double-check that they have their MBBS/PG mark sheets from every year of study, their internship completion certificate, valid Medical Council registration certificate, proof of date of birth from a recognized board, category certificate if applicable, and any documentary evidence of prior Government health sector service. Arriving with a complete, well-organized file of these documents, arranged in the order they are likely to be requested during verification, can meaningfully speed up a candidate’s progress through the compressed same-day selection timeline this walk-in interview follows.
