About This Recruitment
DDMCH Kendujhar is recruiting 5 Assistant Surgeons to strengthen its Trauma Care Facility Centre (ICU), a critical unit for managing accident and emergency cases requiring intensive care. This is the larger of two related DDMCH walk-in recruitments announced on the same day, alongside a Medical Officer recruitment for the MNCU & Nursery Unit, both funded through the District Mineral Fund, Kendujhar, reflecting the district’s broader push to strengthen critical care capacity across its teaching hospital.
Why Critical Care Experience Is Prioritized
Since candidates with 6 months’ work experience in critical care management from a hospital with ICU facilities are given explicit priority, MBBS graduates who have completed any ICU rotation, critical care fellowship, or emergency medicine posting should ensure this experience is clearly documented and highlighted in their application. Given that Trauma Care ICU work demands rapid clinical decision-making under pressure, this priority reflects DDMCH’s practical need for candidates already comfortable with critical care protocols, even though fresh MBBS graduates without such experience remain eligible to apply.
Managing Two Simultaneous DDMCH Walk-ins
Candidates eligible for both this Assistant Surgeon post and the parallel Medical Officer (MNCU & Nursery Unit) post at the same venue and date should note that both interviews follow the identical schedule – registration 10-11 AM, verification 11:10 AM-12 Noon, interview 12:10-2 PM – meaning candidates cannot practically attend both processes back-to-back on the same day without careful planning, and should decide in advance which single post best matches their qualifications and career interest before attending.
About the Trauma Care Facility Centre
Trauma Care Facility Centres are specialized units designed to provide rapid, coordinated emergency response and intensive care for accident and injury victims, and represent a priority infrastructure investment across many district hospitals in Odisha given the significant and ongoing burden of road traffic accidents and other trauma cases across the district. DDMCH Kendujhar’s Trauma Care Facility Centre ICU recruitment of 5 Assistant Surgeons signals a substantial capacity-building effort at the hospital, aimed at ensuring adequate round-the-clock physician coverage for trauma and critical care cases arising across the district.
Career Value of Trauma Care ICU Experience
For MBBS graduates early in their careers, working in a Trauma Care Facility Centre ICU offers intensive, high-acuity clinical exposure that can significantly accelerate a physician’s practical skill development in emergency stabilization, critical care management and trauma protocols. This kind of hands-on experience is often highly valued by candidates preparing for postgraduate entrance examinations in Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, General Surgery or Critical Care Medicine, making this contractual position a genuinely meaningful clinical stepping stone even beyond its one-year initial tenure period.
Documents That Set Applications Apart
Since 6 months of critical care/ICU experience is explicitly prioritized but not mandatory, candidates who have completed any relevant rotation, fellowship or short-term posting in an ICU or emergency department setting should ensure this is documented properly with a formal experience certificate, since informal or undocumented prior experience simply cannot be factored into the selection process at all. Candidates without such experience should not be discouraged from applying, given that the primary merit computation is based on academic career marks from HSC through MBBS, with critical care experience serving only as an additional differentiator among otherwise similarly qualified applicants.
Choosing Between the Two DDMCH Postings on the Same Day
Given that both this Assistant Surgeon (Trauma Care ICU) recruitment and the parallel Medical Officer (MNCU & Nursery Unit) recruitment share the identical walk-in schedule at the same DDMCH venue, candidates who technically qualify for both postings – such as MBBS graduates without a Pediatric specialization – should carefully weigh which single opportunity better matches their clinical interest and long-term career direction, since attending one interview process effectively precludes attending the other on the same day given the fully overlapping time slots involved.
