About This Recruitment
The CDPO office at Harabhanga, part of Odisha’s Integrated Child Development Services network, periodically fills vacant Anganwadi Karyakatri posts to ensure continuous delivery of early childhood care, nutrition and pre-school education services at the grassroots level. This round covers 6 vacant centres spread across the Bankarda, Harabhanga, Nuriabahal and Tileswar panchayats, each requiring a locally-resident woman to serve her own community’s Anganwadi Centre.
Why Residency Is the Central Eligibility Requirement
Since an Anganwadi Karyakatri works directly within her own village or Sasan, engaging with local mothers, children and families on a daily basis, the ICDS scheme deliberately restricts eligibility to permanent residents of that same locality rather than opening it to outside candidates. This ensures the selected worker already has established trust and familiarity within the community she will serve, which is essential for the kind of sustained, door-to-door child health and nutrition monitoring an Anganwadi Karyakatri is expected to carry out.
Preparing a Complete Online Application
Since this recruitment is conducted entirely online through the Odisha ICDS engagement portal, and applications must be filled in Odia language and Odia font with original documents uploaded, candidates should gather scanned copies of their educational certificates, residence proof and any applicable category or special-circumstance certificates well before the 03 September 2026 opening date. Given that a Block-level verification committee will physically check original documents before final selection, candidates should ensure the details entered online exactly match their original certificates to avoid disqualification at the verification stage.
What an Anganwadi Karyakatri Actually Does
An Anganwadi Karyakatri is the frontline worker of India’s ICDS scheme, responsible for supplementary nutrition delivery, pre-school non-formal education for children aged 3 to 6, health check-ups and referral services, nutrition and health education for mothers, and immunization support in coordination with health workers. Since each of the six vacant centres in this notice needs exactly this kind of dedicated, community-rooted worker, candidates should understand that the role goes well beyond a desk job, requiring genuine day-to-day engagement with young children and their families in the village.
How Higher Qualification Affects Priority
While the minimum eligibility for this post is a 10th Class pass, the notice makes clear that priority in selection goes to candidates with higher educational qualifications, evaluated based on the marks list of that higher qualification. This means a candidate holding a +2 (Intermediate) pass, or any qualification beyond 10th Class, stands a meaningfully better chance in the merit list compared to someone with only the bare minimum 10th Class qualification, so candidates should ensure all their educational marksheets, not just the minimum required certificate, are uploaded during application.
