About This Recruitment
BPSC TRE 4.0 is the fourth phase of Bihar’s large-scale school teacher recruitment drive, filling 32,388 posts across the entire school education spectrum from Primary to Higher Secondary level. With Chemistry alone accounting for 3,695 Higher Secondary posts and the Higher Secondary level contributing exactly half the total vacancies, this recruitment represents one of the largest teacher hiring exercises in the country this year, and a major opportunity for STET/CTET/BTET-qualified candidates across Bihar.
Why STET 2026 and TRE 4.0 Are Closely Linked
Candidates should note that clearing the Secondary Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) 2026 is a prerequisite for Secondary and Higher Secondary level applicants under TRE 4.0, and candidates who have completed their required teacher training but are still awaiting STET 2026 results can go ahead and apply for TRE 4.0 now, though their Main Examination admit card will be released only once their STET 2026 qualification is confirmed. This means candidates preparing for STET 2026 should treat it as the first and essential gateway toward securing a Secondary or Higher Secondary teaching post through this recruitment.
How the District Preference System Works
Since BPSC allows each candidate to select up to 38 districts as their preference for subject and category-wise vacancy allotment, and results are published only for the districts a candidate has actually opted for, candidates should choose their district preferences carefully and as broadly as reasonably possible. A candidate who selects only a few districts and does not have vacancies available in their preferred subject/category combination in those specific districts will not have their result published for that level at all, so selecting more districts genuinely improves the chances of being placed.
Why the Higher Secondary Level Dominates This Recruitment
With 16,101 of the 32,388 total vacancies falling under the Higher Secondary level alone, candidates holding a relevant postgraduate degree with B.Ed and a valid STET Paper-II qualification have access to exactly half of all posts in this recruitment cycle. Within Higher Secondary itself, Chemistry, Physics and English together account for a substantial share of the openings, making these three subjects especially competitive but also especially rewarding in terms of sheer number of available seats compared to smaller-vacancy subjects like Economics or Philosophy.
Preparing for a Two-Stage Objective Exam
Since both the Preliminary and Main Examinations in TRE 4.0 are entirely objective-type with identical negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer, candidates should treat accuracy as being just as important as coverage of the syllabus, particularly given that unanswered questions are also penalized if none of the five options is selected. Candidates who already hold a valid CTET, STET or BTET qualification should use their existing subject knowledge as a strong base, while dedicating focused revision time to General Studies for the Preliminary stage and to concept-level depth in their chosen subject for the Main Examination.
