Candidates should check the specific centre-wise reservation applicable to the Gram Sabha/Ward they are applying under, since the number of vacant posts advertised may increase or decrease based on departmental status.

Eligibility Criteria

  • This post is open to female candidates only.
  • Age must be a minimum of 18 years and maximum of 35 years, calculated as on 01 July 2026, based on the date of birth mentioned in the High School certificate.
  • The merit list for shortlisting will be prepared based on marks obtained from Intermediate up to Postgraduate level qualifications.
  • The applicant must be a resident of the same Gram Sabha/Ward (for urban areas) for which the post is advertised; residence, income and caste proof are required, and for urban posts the residence certificate must specifically indicate the Ward number and name, digitally signed at the Tehsil level.
  • The income certificate must be as per the applicable Uttar Pradesh Government Order (dated 30.09.2011) and the Social Welfare Department’s poverty-line criteria (Government Order dated 14 September 2015, as amended), separately defined for rural and urban areas.

Selection Priority Order

Selection is conducted in the following priority order, based on the merit list prepared from Intermediate to Postgraduate marks, within the applicable income/poverty criteria:

  1. Widowed women below the (First) Poverty Line.
  2. Divorced/Deserted women below the Second Poverty Line.
  3. Other widowed/divorced/deserted women below the Third Poverty Line.
  4. Other women below the Poverty Line, if the above are not available.
  5. If candidates are not available below the poverty line, then Widowed women above the Poverty Line.
  6. Divorced/Deserted women above the Second Poverty Line.
  7. Other widowed/divorced/deserted women above the Third Poverty Line.
  8. Other women, if the above categories are not available.

For determining divorced/deserted status, only valid legal orders passed by a competent Court will be recognized. Widowhood must be established through a death certificate and family register issued and certified by the concerned Gram Panchayat Officer or the respective Urban Local Body (Nagar Nikay).

About Anganwadi Karyakatri (Worker) Role

Anganwadi Karyakatris are honorarium-based grassroots functionaries under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, responsible for delivering supplementary nutrition, pre-school non-formal education, health check-ups, immunization referrals, and nutrition and health education to children under 6 years of age, pregnant women and lactating mothers within their assigned Anganwadi Centre. Given the priority selection order that favours widowed, divorced and deserted women living below the poverty line, this recruitment is designed to provide a stable source of honorarium-based income and social standing to some of the most economically vulnerable women within the local community, while simultaneously staffing India’s foundational early childhood care and nutrition delivery infrastructure at the village and ward level.

Candidates wishing to claim benefit under any poverty-line-based priority category must ensure their income certificate is issued as per the Uttar Pradesh Government’s prescribed norms, distinguishing between the rural and urban poverty line thresholds as notified vide the relevant Government Orders. Since the priority order for selection heavily weighs poverty-line status alongside marital status (widowed/divorced/deserted), candidates should obtain their income and residence certificates from the competent authority – the Gram Panchayat Adhikari for rural areas or the concerned Nagar Nikay (Urban Local Body) for urban wards – well in advance of applying, to avoid last-minute delays in completing their online application before the 22 September 2026 deadline.

Digital Verification of Residence Certificates

For applicants from urban (Nagar Nikay) areas, the notification specifically requires that the residence certificate mention the Ward number and Ward name, and that it be issued with a digital signature at the Tehsil level, so that online verification of the certificate’s authenticity is possible. This digital verification requirement reflects the department’s emphasis on preventing fraudulent or mismatched residence claims in a recruitment process where local residency within the specific Gram Sabha or Ward is a mandatory eligibility condition, not merely a preference.

About the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme

The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) is one of India’s flagship early childhood care programmes, delivered through a nationwide network of Anganwadi Centres run at the village and urban ward level. Each Anganwadi Centre, staffed typically by an Anganwadi Karyakatri (Worker) and an Anganwadi Sahayika (Helper), serves as the frontline delivery point for supplementary nutrition, growth monitoring, immunization referral, pre-school education and health/nutrition counselling for children under 6 years, pregnant women and nursing mothers within that locality. Given the scale of vacancies being filled across Banda district’s nine Balvikas Pariyojanas, this recruitment drive plays a direct role in strengthening the district’s early childhood nutrition and care infrastructure, particularly in the rural blocks of Baberu, Badokhar Khurd, Bisanda, Kamasin, Mahuwa, Nareni and Tindwari where the bulk of the vacant posts are concentrated.

Tips for Applicants

Candidates are advised to check the specific Anganwadi Centre and its reservation category (General, OBC or SC) carefully before applying, since eligibility for a given post is tied to the applicant’s actual residence within that Gram Sabha or Ward, not merely their category status. Keeping scanned copies of the High School certificate (for date of birth), Intermediate through Postgraduate mark sheets (for merit calculation), residence proof, caste certificate (if applicable), income certificate, and – where relevant – court orders or death certificates and family register extracts ready in advance will help ensure a smooth online submission before the 22 September 2026 deadline. Since the notification explicitly places the responsibility of accurate, error-free applications on the candidate, applicants should double-check every uploaded document and entered detail before final submission on the portal.
