About the APPSCCE and Its Regional Significance

The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination is the state’s primary route into Group-A and Group-B civil services, covering roles ranging from the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Service (Entry Grade) to specialized posts like District Transport Officer and Inspector (Tax, Excise & Narcotics). With the eligibility strictly limited to APST/PRC holders who speak an Indigenous Tribal Language, this examination reflects the state’s constitutional and policy framework for protecting local tribal representation in its civil administration.

Why the Two-Stage Screening Structure Matters

Since the Preliminary Examination’s marks are used only for screening and are not carried forward to the final merit, candidates should treat it purely as a qualifying hurdle and focus their most intensive preparation on the Main Examination’s seven Merit Subjects plus the compulsory English paper, which together determine the final ranking. The roughly 12-times-vacancy shortlisting ratio for the Main Exam means competition to even reach the Mains stage will be significant given the 135 total vacancies.

Preparing Given the Restricted, Overlapping Eligibility Conditions

Since eligibility requires simultaneously holding a valid Arunachal Pradesh PRC, an APST certificate, and demonstrated proficiency in an Indigenous Tribal Language, candidates should verify well in advance of the 16 September 2026 application opening that all three documents are current and available in the correct format, since the online application, once submitted, cannot be edited and no additional time is given for corrections after submission.

Final Word

Eligible APST candidates holding a valid Arunachal Pradesh PRC, an APST certificate, and Indigenous Tribal Language proficiency should complete the mandatory One Time Registration at https://appsc.gov.in, and submit their online application between 1700 hrs on 16 September 2026 and before 1700 hrs on 20 October 2026 for APPSCCE-2026.
