Agriculture, horticulture and agricultural engineering graduates have a regular government opportunity in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Directorate of Agriculture, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Sri Vijaya Puram, has invited online applications for 10 Group ‘B’ (Non-Gazetted) and Group ‘C’ posts – Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Engineering Assistant and Agriculture Assistant – through a Computer Based Test. Applications are open from 24 September to 23 October 2026 on the A&N e-recruitment portal.

Post-wise Vacancy Details

There are no ST, EWS, PwBD or ESM vacancies in this notice. Only local OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates of A&N Islands can claim OBC reservation; OBC candidates from outside the UT are considered only against unreserved vacancies. Vacancies are tentative.

Who Can Apply

Indian citizens with the essential qualification for the post and within the age limit can apply online, whether or not they are registered with the Employment Exchange. A candidate may apply for more than one post, in order of preference. Departmental candidates must also apply online and produce an NOC at document verification.

Educational Qualification

• Agriculture Officer: Master’s degree in Agriculture/Horticulture from a recognized university or equivalent. Desirable: 2 years’ experience in farm management, agriculture extension, plant protection, agriculture marketing or plantation development.
• Agriculture Engineering Assistant: Degree in Agriculture Engineering from a recognized university/board, plus training in Soil and Water Conservation work from a recognized institute. Desirable: 2 years’ experience in minor irrigation or farm mechanization.
• Agriculture Assistant: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Horticulture from a recognized university or equivalent. Desirable: 2 years’ experience in farm management and agriculture extension, and the ability to read and write Hindi.

Age Limit

Age is counted as on the closing date of online applications, using the date of birth in the 10th certificate or birth certificate. Other relaxations (ex-servicemen, Central Government employees, MSP, DRM/contract employees) apply as per the notice.

Selection Process

• Computer Based Test (CBT) at South Andaman; date and venue are sent by SMS/email.
• Section I – General Studies: 30 questions, 30 marks (General Intelligence, English Language, General Awareness).
• Section II – Subject Paper: 100 questions, 100 marks, based on the post’s essential qualification.
• Duration 120 minutes (plus 40 minutes for eligible VH/Cerebral Palsy candidates); questions in English and Hindi; negative marking of 0.25 per wrong answer.
• Minimum qualifying marks are fixed by the authorities; there is no re-evaluation.
• Online document verification of shortlisted candidates follows.

• Essential qualification certificate and any higher qualification
• 10th pass certificate (date of birth proof)
• OBC/ST certificate issued by a competent authority in A&N Administration (for reserved-category claims)
