Terms and Conditions

  • Appointments are purely on contract basis for the externally funded ICMR project, with no claim to regular posts at AIIMS Bhopal or ICMR.
  • The contract automatically expires at the end of the specified period unless mutually renewed; either party can terminate it with 30 days’ notice or salary in lieu.
  • No hostel or other accommodation will be provided by the Institute or Principal Investigator.
  • No TA/DA will be paid for attending the walk-in interview.
  • Application Fee: Nil.
  • Candidates employed in government or other funded projects must provide a No Objection Certificate from their employer.
  • Private practice of any kind is prohibited; candidates may be posted at rural or field sites as per project needs.
  • Employees must have a valid driver’s license for a two-wheeler (with gear) and car, and own/arrange a vehicle for project-related travel.

Why the Two Posts Serve Different Functions

Since Project Research Scientist-I (Medical) requires an MBBS/BDS qualification and is selected purely through interview, while Project Technical Support-II requires a technical diploma plus 5 years’ experience and undergoes a written and skill test, this project clearly separates its clinical/research leadership role from its field-execution and data-collection support roles, and candidates should apply for the post matching their actual qualification track rather than the one with a preferred salary.

Understanding the Project’s Scope

TERIIP Phase II is a multi-centric observational cross-sectional study establishing reference intervals for laboratory parameters among India’s child and adolescent population (under 18 years), meaning selected candidates will contribute to a nationally significant reference dataset used to inform pediatric clinical diagnostics, alongside hands-on responsibilities in micro-planning, data collection, quality assurance, and field coordination.

Why a Two-Wheeler and Car License Is a Stated Requirement

Since the job description explicitly requires a valid driver’s license for both a two-wheeler with gear and a car, along with arranging one’s own vehicle for project travel, candidates should be prepared for regular field visits as part of this role, and those without an existing license or vehicle should factor this into their decision to apply.

About AIIMS Bhopal and This ICMR Project

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal, is one of India’s premier medical institutions, and this recruitment is tied to a nationally coordinated ICMR-funded reference-intervals study led by the Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine. Positions under such externally funded research projects offer candidates exposure to large-scale, multi-centric clinical research alongside a defined but potentially extendable tenure.

What Reference Interval Research Contributes to Clinical Medicine

Reference intervals, the normal ranges against which laboratory test results are interpreted, are foundational to accurate clinical diagnosis, yet many existing intervals used in Indian pediatric and adolescent medicine are extrapolated from international populations rather than derived from India’s own demographic and physiological data. By contributing to a multi-centric study specifically establishing Indian pediatric reference intervals, selected candidates will support research with direct, lasting clinical relevance across the country’s pathology laboratories.

Weighing the MBBS/BDS Route Against the Technical Support Route

Candidates deciding between the two posts should recognize they represent fundamentally different career tracks: Project Research Scientist-I is suited to medical graduates seeking research and eventual specialization experience in Clinical Biochemistry and Pathology, while Project Technical Support-II suits diploma-holders with laboratory and coordination experience seeking a technical support role with field travel responsibilities, and applicants should apply only for the post matching their actual qualification and career direction.

Final Word

Eligible MBBS/BDS holders or diploma-qualified technical candidates should prepare their application form, CV, and original documents, and report to the Department of Pathology & Lab Medicine, AIIMS Bhopal, for the walk-in interview on 29 September 2026 between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM.
