University of Madras Senior Posts 2026 – Overview

Eligibility

1. Controller of Examinations

• ✓Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or grade B on the UGC 7-point scale).
• ✓15 years teaching and research experience, of which 8 years as Reader/Associate Professor in the pay scale of Rs 1,31,400 – 2,17,100 (Level 13A) with educational administration experience; OR 15 years administrative experience, of which 8 years as Deputy Registrar or equivalent.
• ✓Ph.D. in the respective field is desirable.

2. Professor cum Director, Centre for Distance and Online Education

• ✓Eminent scholar with a Ph.D., at least 10 research publications in peer-reviewed journals and a total research score of 120 (as per UGC Appendix II Table 2), and at least 10 years teaching/research experience with successful guidance of doctoral candidates; OR an outstanding professional with a Ph.D. and 10 years experience.
• ✓Desirable: experience in educational planning in pedagogy and teaching technology for continuing/distance/non-formal education.

3. Dean – College Development Council

• ✓Master’s degree in Arts/Science/Humanities with at least 55% marks (5% relaxation, i.e. 50%, for SC/ST).
• ✓At least 15 years teaching/research experience, including at least 2 years as Head of Department, Director of a research establishment or Principal of a recognised college.
• ✓Ph.D. in the respective field. Research publications are desirable. Preference for experience in funded research projects.

Pay by Demand Draft in favour of “The Registrar, University of Madras”, payable at Chennai.

1. 1Download the prescribed application form from the University website (the notice does not print the web address). Self-designed formats are not accepted.
2. 2Fill it and send 8 copies with enclosures to: The Convener, VC-Convener Committee (by designation only), University of Madras, Centenary Buildings, Chepauk, Chennai – 600005.
3. 3Attach the Demand Draft, attested first page of SSLC book (age proof), degree certificates, publications and two reference names.
4. 4Serving candidates must apply through proper channel; they may send 7 copies in advance, but will be called only if the channel copy arrives on time.
5. 5Apply separately for each post. Last date: 16.10.2026.
