Note: The earlier post on this site covered a different notice for 4 Mechanical Supervisor posts. The Nesting post allows low vision, deaf and hard of hearing and some locomotor disability candidates.

Eligibility: Qualification and Age Limit

Supervisor (Nesting)

• 3 year Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, Civil, Electronics, Communication, Computer or Automobile Engineering.
• At least 7 years of experience after the diploma, in nesting, plate processing, CNC cutting or CAD-CAM.
• The work must be in shipbuilding or a similar field. At least 2 years must be in a supervisory grade.
• Desirable: MS Project, MS Office and SAP.

Supervisor (Mechanical)

• 3 year Diploma in Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
• At least 7 years of experience in piping, machinery or structural outfitting in shipbuilding, ship repair or offshore fabrication.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory grade.

Age limit

• Not above 45 years on 28 October 2026, born on or after 29 October 1981.
• ST candidates get 5 years on reserved posts. Ex-servicemen as per rules, up to 50 years.

Important rule

• Applicants with higher qualifications like B.Tech. or M.Sc. but without the diploma are not considered.

Salary Details

Selection Process

1. Phase I: offline written test of 80 marks.
2. Objective test: 40 questions, 45 minutes, no negative marking.
3. Descriptive test: 40 marks, 90 minutes, on the discipline.
4. Pass marks: 50% for UR and 40% for ST.
5. Phase II: PowerPoint presentation of up to 10 minutes on work experience (20 marks).
6. Certificate checking for about 6 candidates per post, then a rank list.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus

• Objective part: 5 questions each on General Knowledge, English, Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude, plus 20 discipline questions.
• Descriptive part: 40 marks on discipline related questions.
• Rank list is on the total of Phase I and Phase II.

Documents Required

• Diploma certificate and marksheets with exact percentage.
• Experience certificates or offer letter and latest pay slip.
• Proof of age.
• ST or PwBD certificate, if any.
• Declaration for government employees (Annexure I).

Important Instructions for Candidates

• Experience counts only after the qualification date.
• Training under the Apprentices Act counts as experience, but not for the 2 year supervisory part.
• Experience from registered companies is accepted.
• Government employees must tell their employer in writing.
• UCSL may increase, decrease or cancel the vacancies.
