Why This Post Requires a Computer Science Background

Unlike TSLPRB’s other Constable and Sub Inspector posts, which accept general Intermediate or Degree qualifications, the ASI (Fingerprint Bureau) post specifically requires a B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, IT, AI/ML, Data Science, Cyber Security, or IoT, or a B.Sc. in Computer Science/Computer Applications, reflecting the increasingly technology-driven, digital-forensics nature of modern fingerprint identification and bureau work within Telangana Police.

Understanding Why This Post Suits Tech Graduates Seeking Police Careers

For computer science and IT graduates specifically interested in a career within law enforcement’s technical and forensic wing, this ASI (FPB) post offers a rare pathway that directly values their core academic qualification, unlike most other police recruitment which favors general degree or intermediate qualifications over specialized technical ones.

Why the Age Relaxation Update Applies Here Too

Since this notification also falls under the Government of Telangana’s cumulative 10-year (5+2+3) age relaxation for uniformed services direct recruitment, computer science graduates who assumed they were over the base 21-25 year age window should recheck their eligibility given this compounding relaxation, along with standard SC/ST/BC/EWS and Ex-Servicemen relaxations.

About TSLPRB and the Fingerprint Bureau

Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB), headquartered at DGP Office Complex, Lakdi-ka-pul, Hyderabad, conducts recruitment for Telangana’s Police Department, including its specialized Fingerprint Bureau, which handles forensic identification and digital fingerprint database management supporting criminal investigation across the state.

Why This Post May See Less Competition Than General Posts

Since the ASI (FPB) post’s strict Computer Science/IT degree requirement significantly narrows the eligible applicant pool compared to TSLPRB’s general Constable or Sub Inspector posts, which draw from a much broader intermediate or general-degree candidate base, technically qualified applicants may find this post offers a comparatively more favourable competition ratio, even as it demands the same physical fitness standards as other uniformed posts.

Preparing for Both the Technical and Physical Components

Candidates should recognize that success in this recruitment requires excelling on two very different fronts simultaneously: a computer science-oriented written examination testing technical and general knowledge, and a physical efficiency test with running, height, and jump/shot-put benchmarks identical to other police posts, meaning IT graduates without a fitness background should begin physical conditioning well ahead of the PMT/PET stage rather than relying solely on academic strength.

Final Word

Eligible B.E./B.Tech or B.Sc. Computer Science graduates meeting the age (as relaxed per the Press Note) and physical standards should complete their online application for the ASI (Fingerprint Bureau) post by 16 September 2026, 5:00 PM.
