About Chandrapur Ferro Alloy Plant (CFP)

Chandrapur Ferro Alloy Plant, located on Mul Road, Chandrapur, is a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a Maharatna Company and one of India’s largest steel producers. CFP’s Medical & Health Services (M&HS) department, comprising the Occupational Health Centre (OHS) and CFP Dispensary, provides medical care to plant employees and requires trained Dresser cum Compounders and Nurses to support its healthcare operations.

Why This Is Called “Proficiency Training” Rather Than Direct Recruitment

Unlike a standard recruitment drive for permanent Dresser or Nurse positions, this notification specifically engages candidates for structured “Proficiency Training” over 18 months, culminating in a Certificate of Proficiency upon satisfactory completion, rather than an appointment offer. This distinction matters: candidates should view the stipend and attendance-linked allowance as compensation for a supervised training period designed to build practical medical support skills within CFP’s OHS and Dispensary setup, not as a stepping stone automatically leading to regular CFP employment.

Understanding the Attendance-Linked Allowance Structure

Beyond the base stipend of Rs. 10,000 per month, the Knowledge Enhancement Allowance rewards consistent attendance, Rs. 260 per working day for 20+ days of attendance in a month, dropping to Rs. 130 per day for 15-19 days, and nil for attendance below 15 days. Trainees should recognize that maximizing this allowance requires near-full monthly attendance, making consistent presence throughout the 18-month training period financially significant, not just professionally important for skill development.

Why Medical Support Staff Training Matters at an Industrial Plant

Ferro alloy manufacturing plants like CFP involve high-temperature processes, heavy machinery, and various occupational health risks, making a well-staffed and well-trained Occupational Health Centre and Dispensary essential for both routine employee healthcare and emergency response. Training Dresser cum Compounders and Nurses specifically within CFP’s own OHS and Dispensary setup ensures that trainees develop familiarity with the specific occupational health protocols, common workplace injury patterns, and emergency procedures relevant to an industrial plant environment, rather than generic hospital-based clinical training alone.

Comparing the Two Trainee Categories

While both categories work within the same M&HS department, Dresser cum Compounders typically handle wound dressing, medication compounding, and general first-aid support functions, whereas Nurses bring a broader clinical skill set covering patient assessment, medication administration, and nursing care protocols. Candidates should apply for the specific stream matching their existing qualification, since the eligibility requirements, and the underlying skill sets, are distinct between the two roles despite both falling under the same Proficiency Training scheme.

Final Word

Eligible male candidates (Dresser cum Compounder) and female candidates (Nurses) meeting the qualification and age criteria should attend the walk-in interview at HRD Hall, Chandrapur Ferro Alloy Plant, Chandrapur, on 16 September 2026, between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, with the completed application and all required documents.

A Note on Joining After Selection

The notification specifies that selected candidates must undergo a medical checkup conducted by SAIL-CFP Hospital/Dispensary and report for training on 21 September 2026, with immediate effect, giving selected candidates only a short window between the interview date and the training start date. Interested candidates should therefore be prepared to join promptly if selected, rather than assuming a longer gap before training commences.

Weighing This Opportunity Against Regular Nursing/Paramedical Jobs

Candidates already holding a GNM/ANM or Dresser-Compounder qualification who are weighing this 18-month training stipend against a regular salaried position elsewhere should factor in the specific value of gaining structured, industrial-occupational-health experience at a SAIL unit, which can be a distinctive credential when later applying to PSU or large-industry medical support roles that specifically value plant-based occupational health exposure. However, since this is explicitly training rather than employment, candidates who need immediate long-term job security may want to weigh this consideration carefully against the fixed 18-month, non-guaranteed nature of the engagement.

Contacting CFP for Queries

Candidates with questions regarding this recruitment may contact: Umesh M. Ukey, DGM (HR), Mobile: 9480828991, or Shakeel Ahmed Khan, AM (HR), Mobile: 7587220046.

A Note on Age Relaxation Eligibility

Candidates belonging to OBC-NCL or SC/ST categories seeking age relaxation should carry a valid, correctly formatted category certificate to the interview, since the notification specifies the relaxation is 3 years for OBC-NCL and 5 years for SC/ST candidates, applied against the base upper age limit of 30 years as on the date of the walk-in interview itself, not the notification date.

Preparing for a First-Come-First-Served Interview Format

Since screened candidates will be interviewed on a first-come-first-served basis within the 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM window on 16 September 2026, candidates are advised to arrive as early as possible within the reporting window rather than waiting until later in the day, since a large turnout could mean later arrivals are asked to return on a subsequent day if the notification’s provision for continuing interviews on another day is invoked. Arriving early with all documents organized also gives candidates a better chance of completing their interview within the same day’s session.
