About This Recruitment
Rourkela Steel Plant, one of the flagship units of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), operates Ispat General Hospital (IGH) as part of its broader commitment to community welfare in the Sundargarh region. This training programme, offering 112 seats across three healthcare-related roles, is specifically designed to give underprivileged candidates from RSP’s impact zones a structured, stipend-supported pathway to gain practical healthcare skills, even though it stops short of guaranteeing employment.
Why This Is a Skill-Building Opportunity, Not a Job Guarantee
Candidates should go into this programme with realistic expectations, since RSP has made explicit that the training is purely for skill enhancement of underprivileged candidates in the Employability and Skill Enhancement framework, and does not create any claim to future employment in SAIL or RSP. For candidates from Sundargarh district and RSP’s impact zones with limited access to formal healthcare training institutes, however, this year-long, stipend-paid training in fields like Medical Attendant work, Hospital Administration, or OT/Anesthesia Assistance offers a genuine, low-barrier route to build employable healthcare skills that can be used to seek positions elsewhere after the training concludes.
Why Medical Attendant Training Dominates the Seats
With 100 of the 112 total seats allocated to Medical Attendant Training, and only a Matric-level qualification required, this programme is clearly designed to be the most broadly accessible of the three tracks, giving a much wider pool of candidates from modest educational backgrounds a real shot at selection. Candidates with higher qualifications like an MBA, BBA, or PG Diploma should weigh whether the more specialized, better-stipend Hospital Administration Training (7 seats) suits their profile better, since competition for these fewer, higher-stipend seats is likely to be sharper given the smaller number of openings.
Documentation Candidates Should Prepare in Advance
Since this programme is specifically reserved for underprivileged candidates from Sundargarh and other Odisha districts, and requires proof through a BPL Card, Ration Card, BSKY Card, or Income Certificate issued after 01.01.2025, along with a Residential Certificate issued after 01.01.2023, candidates should start gathering these time-sensitive documents well before the application window opens on 05 September 2026. Since applications are accepted only online and the interview call comes through SMS on the registered mobile number, candidates should also double check that the mobile number entered in the application form is active and correctly recorded.
Why RSP Prioritizes Its Impact Zones
The explicit preference given to candidates from Bisra, Kuarmunda, Nuagaon and Lathikata Blocks, Rourkela Municipality, RSP’s Industrial Township, Resettlement Colonies and model steel villages reflects a common Corporate Social Responsibility practice among large public sector steel and mining companies, which aim to channel skill development benefits back to the communities most directly affected by their industrial operations. Candidates from these specific impact zones should clearly mention their block or colony of residence in the application, since this directly affects how they are prioritized within the overall selection process for these 112 seats.
