The Subordinate Services Selection Board (SSSB), Punjab has released Advertisement No. 12 of 2026 for 70 Group-C posts across various Punjab Government departments: Clerk (Accounts), Clerk (Legal), Clerk (IT), Driver, Translator and Field Artist. Of these, 28 posts are reserved for women. Online applications on sssb.punjab.gov.in run from 25 September to 19 October 2026.
Important – Who Can Apply: Under Rule 17 of the Punjab Civil Services Rules, 1994, you must have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject, or an equivalent Punjabi examination. Age relaxation for SC/BC, ex-servicemen and PwD applies only to residents of Punjab.

Who Can Apply
Candidates with the post-wise qualification who passed Matriculation with Punjabi can apply online. Qualifications must be complete by the last date of application (19.10.2026).
Educational Qualification
- Driver: Matric; valid driving licence for light and heavy vehicles; minimum 3 years’ driving experience.
- Clerk (Legal): Law graduate from a recognised university; competitive test; Punjabi and English typing at 30 wpm.
- Clerk (Accounts) – Employment Generation Dept: Graduate with at least one subject of Statistics, Mathematics or Accounts; competitive test; typing test.
- Clerk (Accounts) – Excise & Taxation: Degree in Commerce; competitive test; typing test.
- Clerk (IT) – Excise & Taxation: Graduate in Computer Application/IT/Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Computer Technology.
- Clerk (IT) – Labour Commissioner: B.Tech (CS), B.Sc. (IT), BCA, or graduate with PGDCA (or equivalent/higher).
- Clerk (IT) – Civil Aviation: B.E./B.Tech in IT/ECE/CS with 50%, or BCA with 50% plus 2 years’ ICT experience; Punjabi at Matric level.
- Translator: Graduate, plus a 120-hour computer course (Office Productivity/DTP) from an ISO 9001 or government-recognised institute, or a DOEACC ‘O’ level equivalent.
- Field Artist: Graduate in Music, Drama or Dance.

Pay and allowances follow Punjab Finance Department instructions (letters dated 15.01.2015 and 04.10.2016).
Selection Process
- Objective MCQ written exam in two parts. Part-A is a qualifying Class 10-level Punjabi paper (minimum 50%). Part-B decides merit, with 1 mark per question and 1/4 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
- Clerk posts: a qualifying computer typing test in English and Punjabi (Raavi font) at 30 wpm.
- Counselling and document verification, then recommendation to departments by common merit.
- Tie-break: older candidate first, then higher qualification percentage, then higher Matric marks.

Preparation Tips
