PGVCL Vidyut Sahayak Recruitment 2026: Apply Online for 236 PwBD Posts
Looking for a government job this year? A new recruitment notification has been released by Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited, on behalf of all power distribution companies of Gujarat. This recruitment offers 236 vacancies for the post of Vidyut Sahayak (Junior Assistant). Candidates with benchmark disability from across India can apply. Before filling the application form, check the eligibility, salary, age limit and selection process explained below.
This special drive is only for Person with Benchmark Disability candidates. It covers all four power distribution companies of Gujarat, namely PGVCL, UGVCL, MGVCL and DGVCL. If you are a graduate with a qualifying disability certificate, this is a genuine chance to join the Gujarat power sector with a clear path towards a regular government post.
PGVCL Vidyut Sahayak Recruitment 2026 – Highlights
This table gives you the full snapshot at a glance. GUVNL and its four subsidiary companies together supply electricity across Gujarat, and this drive is meant to bring PwBD candidates into government service through a fair and transparent exam process.
The 236 posts are shared among the four companies. PGVCL has 85 posts, DGVCL has 62 posts, MGVCL has 58 posts, and UGVCL has 31 posts. The company also mentions that more vacancies may open up later due to retirements or new sanctioned posts.
Who Can Apply
This recruitment is open only for Person with Benchmark Disability candidates. Eligible disability categories include Low Vision, Hard of Hearing, Locomotor Disability (like One Arm, One Leg, Dwarfism, Leprosy Cured, Acid Attack Victim, Spinal Injury or Spinal Deformity) and Specific Learning Disability.
You need at least 40% disability to be considered under the PwBD quota. Along with this, your educational qualification must match the criteria mentioned below. Departmental candidates already working in the company can also apply, and they do not have to worry about the maximum age limit.
Educational Qualification
The qualification rule here is simple to understand once broken down.
- You must hold a B.A., B.Com, B.Sc., B.C.A. or B.B.A. degree.
- The degree can be through Regular, External, or Open/Distance Learning mode.
- Your university or institute must be recognised and approved by UGC or AICTE.
- You need at least 55% average marks in your final year or last two semesters.
If you studied through an Open Distance Learning or online mode, there is one extra rule. Your course must carry NAAC accreditation of at least 3.01 on a 4-point scale, or NBA accreditation of at least 650 points out of 1000. This ensures that only recognised distance learning degrees are accepted.
Age Limit
Your maximum age should not cross 45 years as on 7 July 2026, which is the date the advertisement was published. This limit already includes all applicable relaxations for the PwBD category.
There is good news for candidates already working inside the company. If you are a departmental candidate, the maximum age limit does not apply to you at all. You will be treated equally with outside applicants in every other aspect of the selection process.
Application Fee
The application fee for this recruitment is Rs. 250, and this amount already includes GST. You must pay this fee only through online mode, using a credit card, debit card or net banking.
Please note that this fee is non-refundable once paid. Bank charges, if any, will be borne by you. No offline payment method like demand draft, cheque or postal order is accepted for this recruitment.
Salary
The pay structure for Vidyut Sahayak is designed to increase every year during the initial contract period.
This is a fixed amount, and no extra allowance is given during these three years, apart from TA/DA reimbursement as per company rules. However, if you complete these three years satisfactorily, you may be considered for a regular Junior Assistant post with a much better pay scale of Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 55,800.
Selection Process
The selection for this post happens through a two-stage written examination process.
- First Tier Examination: This exam carries 100 marks. You need a minimum of 45 marks to qualify for the next stage.
- Second Tier Examination: Only candidates who clear the First Tier can appear for this exam, which also carries 100 marks. A minimum of 45 marks is required here as well.
Your final merit and selection depend entirely on your Second Tier exam score. Both exams have negative marking, where one-fourth mark is deducted for every wrong answer. So attempt questions carefully and avoid random guessing.
Documents Required
Keep the following documents ready. You will need to submit self-attested copies whenever the company asks for document verification.
- Printed online application form with two recent passport size photographs
- School Leaving Certificate
- Mark sheets of your final year or last two semesters of graduation
- Percentage equivalence certificate, if your result uses a grading system
- Degree Certificate
- Valid Disability Certificate showing your percentage of disability
- Caste certificate, if you belong to SC/ST/SEBC/EWS category of Gujarat
- Domicile Certificate of Gujarat State
- Online payment receipt
- Photo ID proof such as Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID or Driving Licence
- Residential address proof
- No Objection Certificate, if you are already employed
Keep both original and self-attested photocopies ready. Documents are usually asked for only after you clear the exam stages, so you get enough time to arrange everything properly.
Important Dates
Do not wait until the last day to apply. Government recruitment websites often get very busy close to the deadline, and a slow or failed submission can cost you your chance this year.

Preparation Tips
- Start practising Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English, Gujarati, General Knowledge and Computer Knowledge, since these form the First Tier syllabus.
- For the Second Tier, focus on English, Gujarati, Polity, History, Geography, Economics and Current Affairs.
- Practice with negative marking in mind. Skip questions you are not confident about.
- Keep your disability certificate and Gujarat domicile certificate ready early, since these take time from government offices.
- Revise basic computer knowledge topics, as this carries a good share of marks in the first exam.
- Read daily newspapers for current affairs, since both tiers include this section.
A steady daily study routine works better than last-minute preparation for a two-tier exam like this one. Give equal attention to both language sections, English and Gujarati, since together they carry a large portion of marks.
