About This Recruitment

NIT Goa is significantly expanding its permanent faculty strength through this recruitment drive, spanning core engineering departments (CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, Civil), basic sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) and Humanities and Social Science (English), across all three faculty levels – Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor. With 28 sanctioned vacancies and preferred specializations spanning cutting-edge areas like AI/ML, Cyber Security, VLSI, Edge AI Accelerators, Robotics and Automation, this recruitment reflects the Institute’s push to build research and teaching capacity aligned with emerging technology domains while also filling core faculty needs in Mathematics and English.

Why Candidates Should Apply for the Right Level

Since the qualification and experience thresholds differ significantly across Assistant Professor Grade-I/Grade-II, Associate Professor and Professor levels – ranging from a fresh Ph.D. for Assistant Professor up to 10 years post-Ph.D. experience with prior Associate Professor tenure for the Professor post – candidates should carefully self-assess which level and pay grade they genuinely qualify for before applying, rather than assuming a higher designation is always preferable. Misjudging eligibility at a higher level risks outright rejection during the scrutiny stage, whereas applying at the correctly matched level, based on the Schedule ‘E’ of NIT Statutes criteria, gives a candidate’s application a fair chance of being shortlisted for the Selection Committee stage.

Understanding the Specialization Priorities by Department

Candidates should closely study the desirable specialization list for their target department before applying, since departments like CSE and ECE have listed highly specific, technology-forward specializations – such as Quantum Computation, Cyber Security, Edge AI Accelerators and TeraHertz Communication – suggesting the Institute is particularly keen to build strength in these emerging areas. Candidates whose research background aligns closely with these listed specializations, even if not an exact match, are likely to be viewed more favourably during the qualification scrutiny and interview stages compared to candidates with a more tangential fit to the department’s stated priorities.
