DPO Fatehpur Anganwadi Karyakatri and Sahayika Recruitment 2026

The Office of the District Programme Officer (DPO), Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh has invited online applications for filling up vacant posts of Anganwadi Karyakatri (Worker) and Anganwadi Sahayika (Helper), on an honorarium basis, across 14 Child Development Projects covering urban and rural areas of the district. This article covers the vacancy details and how to apply.

Important – This Is a Women-Only, Honorarium-Based Role

Only women candidates are eligible to apply. These are honorarium-based positions under the Anganwadi system, not regular salaried government posts, and eligibility for each vacancy is tied to being a permanent resident of the specific village/ward where that Anganwadi centre is located, with residents of the corresponding Nyaya Panchayat considered only if no eligible candidate is available from the exact village/ward.

About This Recruitment

Anganwadi Karyakatris and Sahayikas together run India’s Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) network at the grassroots level, delivering pre-school education, nutrition support, immunization referrals and maternal health awareness to communities across the country. Karyakatri vs. Sahayika – Understanding the Two Roles

The Anganwadi Karyakatri, or Worker, leads the Anganwadi centre, responsible for pre-school education, growth monitoring of children, nutrition counselling, and coordinating with health workers on immunization and health check-up schedules. The Anganwadi Sahayika, or Helper, assists the Karyakatri with daily operational tasks, such as opening the centre, cleaning, arranging drinking water, and helping bring children and mothers to the centre. Since this recruitment carries significantly more Sahayika vacancies (239) than Karyakatri vacancies (150), it reflects that a larger number of Helper posts across the district’s Anganwadi centres currently need filling compared to Worker posts.

Why Residency Requirements Matter for This Recruitment

Since each vacancy is tied to a specific Anganwadi centre serving a defined village or ward, this recruitment strictly requires candidates to be permanent residents of that exact village or ward, and only opens up to the wider Nyaya Panchayat if no eligible local candidate applies. This hyper-local approach is designed to ensure that whoever is selected already has deep familiarity with the community she will serve, since Anganwadi work depends heavily on trust and regular contact with local families, especially mothers of young children.

Checking the Right Vacancy for Your Village

Since eligibility for each of the 389 posts is tied to a specific village or ward, and not to the district as a whole, candidates should not assume they can apply for any centre within their block. The full ward/village-wise breakup, along with which category each specific post is reserved for, is published in detail on the official portal and displayed physically at block and tehsil offices, so candidates should confirm their own village or ward appears in the vacant list for their preferred post before beginning the online application, rather than relying only on the project-level totals summarized in this notice.

Why Such a Large Number of Vacancies Exist Together

Anganwadi Karyakatri and Sahayika posts across a district are usually filled through periodic recruitment drives rather than continuously, since these honorarium-based posts often go unfilled for a period after a Karyakatri or Sahayika resigns, retires, or a new Anganwadi centre is sanctioned. A vacancy count as large as 389 in one district suggests either a fresh sanction of new Anganwadi centres, a long gap since the last recruitment drive, or a combination of both, making this a significant one-time opportunity for eligible local women across Fatehpur district rather than a routine, small-scale notification.

What Documents to Keep Ready

Since the entire process runs through the online portal, candidates should prepare scanned copies of their High School and Intermediate mark sheets and certificates, proof of residency in the specific village or ward, category certificate if claiming reservation, and a recent photograph, well before the application window closes on 17 September 2026. Given the scale of this recruitment, with 389 posts open across the district at once, the portal is likely to see heavy traffic closer to the deadline, so applying early rather than waiting until the final days is a sensible precaution against last-minute technical delays.
